Great Product!
I purchased this to replace an identical one we had. Love the sensor because it opens the lid when my hands are full. When the grandkids were little, they thought it was the coolest thing ever too! That's probably part of why it finally died, but it got tons of use in the 8 years we had it. We also love than the trash bags fit perfectly and are easy to replace.

Beautiful stainless steel garbage can that totally elevates my kitchen!
This is the second time I have ordered this awesome sensor trash can from simplehuman. The first one had a great run and lasted me a long time, but when I was recently redoing my kitchen, I accidentally cracked the top that goes up when the sensor is tripped. Luckily, I needed a good sized garbage can that will look nice in my laundry room — and it fit perfectly underneath the shelf and didn’t look broken at all. Added to the clean look of a laundry room 100%. Repurposed and awesome, even when broken! Then I went right on Amazon and ordered up this one. I feel like it’s better than the last one just because of normal improvements, but the last one worked awesome anyway so the improvements are just a bonus. It also looks beautiful in my kitchen, instead of like a garbage can that is all yucky. Best part — you cannot see the garbage bag hanging out like on most other sensor garbage cans. It’s the little details that matter and this one is giant if you ask me! I like my kitchen to look very clean and visually pleasing 🙌😎

Easy to use trash can
I've use this trash can for around 4 weeks and it's really nice. I simply don't have any problem with it opening when I am close or walk by. Almost didn't buy it because of reviews saying it opened every they walked by. The place I put it is where it's the easiest to use, which is close to the counter top. We are around it all the time but it won't open unless you put your hand down close enough on top of the lip, where the sensor is located. Obviously if someone walk by it and something or their hand passes low enough right over the sensor it will open. But in our case its extremely rare because normally nothing is that low. It doesn't open by being in front it if, have to be top. So, its working well and convenient to use with no hands. Better than I expected really and nice to have both hands holding something but can still get the top open. Really quiet and hopefully it lasts a good while before having problems. Looks nice also.

Best trash can ever!
First off, I love this trash can! When I bought it I felt a little guilty for the amount I spent on it, but it has been worth every penny. I've had it a little over a month now and have it as my main trash can in the kitchen. It has no fingerprints on it yet (even from my 3 1/2 year old). The bags dispense frome the trash can when you change the bag. It's so convenient and saves on cupboard space. Also, it has holes in the bottom of the can to ensure no suction when pulling the bag out. It came with the simple human bags, which I have never tried before and they are also wonderful! Fit the can just right. You don't see the bag sticking out from under the lid. And the bags are very sturdy. They even have a rage on them to let you know when you're low on bags! The only con I can say about the can is that if you Wally too close to the can the lid will open. I've noticed it's not so much in front of the can as if you walk super close and your arm or shadow happens to go over top of the can. Once I figured that out it has been easy to avoid. In short, I love this trash can and you will too if you get one!

Works perfectly and a much better design than the competitor's cans
Excellent design and aesthetic. We previously owned a Nine Stars brand sensor can, but the design wasn't as good. Design pluses with this can are: 1. The battery compartment is on the outside back of the can (Nine Stars has the battery compartment IN the lid. If your battery compartment door isn't properly closed, OUT it goes with the trash. It happened to us. No door is available as a replacement part.) 2. proprietary bags slip into a compartment on the back of the can that has an opening inside the can that dispenses bags. Very convenient and neat. 3. The "lip" of the can covers the bag top completely and stays open in "task" mode for bag changing. 4. Task mode actually works (it did NOT in the Nine Stars can), and very well. 5. Quieter and smoother than the NS. 6. Optional power adapter (not available with NS units), saving a lot of money on batteries. It's expensive, gorgeous and well worth it.

The future is here for your garbage can
Simply human always makes great quality products. This makes for a great gift for parents who are still using the old and traditional step garbage can. You just wave your hand and the lid opens effortlessly. I find that the battery life is great. The only downside is the garbage can is quite large so for a family of two you may find that your trash may sit in there for a long time before you empty. I’m surprised we did not buy something like this earlier because it’s so much easier to empty the trash without touching or stepping on something.

Expensive, but good quality
This is the first time we've purchased a "Robot" garbage can that wasn't the EKO brand that Costco carries. Costco always seems to have the one EKO can that they swap out every year for their newest "improved" can, and for one reason or the other, we've bought a new one nearly every year. I am going to talk about our previous 3 robots from EKO to establish our experience with them, and why this can is set apart, but I will try to be brief. Our first EKO was tall and loud. The motor could be heard across the house. The liner was held by a inner ring, the kind where you stuff the bag into the main can, fit the ring inside the bag into the channel in the can, and then fold the top of the bag back in on itself and put the lid on. It was fine, but left us with a goopy top of bag trying to pull it out to switch it out, and you had to fight the whole can to get it out. The next EKO we got turned out to be the best of the trio. They shortned it and made it wider, but they added an inner can for the bag, so when it came to take the garbage out, you pulled the inner can, which slid out easily, but the lid and mechanism always got super gross. The third, which was very closely modeled after the second, was not really as good, despite the tech improvements because they didn't address how easily the mechanism was affected by the garbage gunk that got on it, but the whole thing fried out 6 months after we got it, and it too 2 months for the company to replace it because they don't put model info on the can. So, during that 2 months of anger, I decided to buy elsewhere. We got way too used to the robot cans, because not needing to step or touch anything to toss stuff is great. This doesn't have an independent inner can, so I worried that taking it out would be a fight like our first can was, but unlike all 3 EKO cans, the lid doesn't have to be entirely lifted off and removed to change it out. It doesn't come off at all, for that matter. Instead it just opened on a hinge. So that alone made the risk worth it to me. The shape and wide openness of the opening was great because it means the lid and lip won't get goopy because it's hard to miss when dumping the goopier stuff now. The mechanism is also nearly impossible to get goopy due to the smart design. The hinge doesn't take anything back in with it at all. This can has no operational buttons. You cannot manually open this can. The trio of EKO's we had all had open and close buttons, and when you used the open buttons the cans would stay open until you hit the close button. This can does not have those. It will only open if triggered, but unlike the previous cans, the area of sensing is smarter, so the can stays open the whole time you are in front of it, so it won't close prematurely as you are throwing stuff out. The others close after a set amount of time, and their sense range is very small. Worst case, if you have to open the can manually, you can just grab the base of the whole lid, as if to take the bag out, and just lift that. It holds itself open so you can get the bag out, so it'll hold itself open for you to come and go as needed for that moment. The last big point is the bags themselves. They do make bags that are designed specifically to fit the height and width of this can, and it comes with a free 10 pack sample of them. It has the little dispenser pocket in the back. Such a wonderful idea on both ends, with 2 big flaws. One is that the bags themselves aren't very sturdy. The first bag we used, the hand strings broke, right away, when trying to pull it out of the can. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but this happened multiple times over the course of the free sample pack. You can actually feel a kind of "fragile" feeling to them, almost like brittle plastic, rather than the more rubberized plastics you get with Kirkland Signature and Glad. The second is cost. If you look at the two ways you can get the custom bags, compared to the Kirkland Signature big box of universal bags, you can see a steep cost difference. Kirkland rings in at 8 cents a bag. The Amazon branded bags ring in at 14 cents a bag. And the on brand bags ring in at 19 cents a bag. So, with Kirkland you lose the firmer fit at the opening, and the form fitting inside, but you still get a good enough fit on both, as the lid mechanism holds the opening in place, and the bag itself still fills the space just fine, but you are paying a lot less money for them. You also lose the cool dispenser, but looking at the bigger packs of Amazon bags, you lose the dispenser there too. Getting on brand bags with the dispenser packs is even more expensive. So it's hard to see the overall value for money in this can if you plan to use their bags. If you can afford the jump in price for stuff like that, no big deal, but if you are operating on a budget, you may want to reconsider, or just do what we do and just use the Kirkland bags still. Either way, the can is overall great, compared to what we have used in the past. Robot cans are definitely cool, but do your research and don't just buy whatever seems cool. The EKO brand cans usually ring in at about $50, and as you read above, they have some pretty annoying fatal flaws. So if you want one to be reliable, and better covered by the manufacturer, look into ones like this one. Even though it's more expensive.

Good Looking and Quiet
I needed a kitchen trashcan that would match my appliances and not get dirty looking or scratched with heavy use. I spent a lot of time researching tall trashcans and considered all my options from very inexpensive with simple mechanics to this little beauty. I like the idea of not actually touching the trashcan, thus no fingerprints, scratches from using a pedal to open it, and minimal goop accidentally slopped on the lid. I cook a lot and previously used an open top plastic trashcan that was stored under the sink. The idea of my kitchen trash can opening via motion sensor is ideal for the many times I handle raw meat or veggie scraps or any other sloppy items. This Simplehuman trashcan is easy to set up, takes AA batteries that are provided in the box, comes with several trash bags in a convenient holder inside the trash can and it's nearly silent when used. The motion sensor works well upon opening and waits until you have cleared the area before it closes. I really like this trash can. I was hesitant about the price, but very glad I bought it because it works well.

Sehr gutes Produkt

A great purchase
I was hesitant for a while choosing between so many choices for sensor bin. At first the simplehuman bin seemed a bit pricy but when it arrived all my doubts disappeared. The bin is so stylish, with high quality to all details and most importantly to me- works flawlessly and almost unnoticed. With its 45l you don't have to run every single day to dispose the garbage and the lid closes so tightly that no odor is noticeable np matter what's inside. simplehuman- you made a great product indeed!
