Very lovely cd

The roots of this 1975 disco soul album are still quite aligned with the rock funk side of things.. Duets with George occasionally reminisce Curtis Mayfield. All in all this is quality. I even like later disco so that's never a problem for me, but this album's closer to the funk roots than stuff that would come out a couple years later. Still its got enough of that cool orchestral mix in the background to make sure you know its the sleak and swanky 70s. All the songs are good but Mechanical Body is my favorite so far. Good stuff. The bonus tracks by George alone (ranging from 1975 to 2001) are a nice bonus but are not as good as the 9 tracks of the original album . Unsurprisingly. Still, this baby's a worthy purchase for disco roots and 70s soul fans.

George McCrae was lucky to have one of those hits that have become iconic and timeless. Rock Your Baby led the way as the first wave of the Disco explosion hit the music world in summer 1974. He followed it up with a few similar sounding recordings that provided diminishing returns over the next couple of years. In 1976 he recorded this album with his wife- soul singer Gwen McCrae (for who Rock Your Baby was originally written). This album is stamed with the hallmarked TK Studio Production. The album holds up well when heard today 40 plus years later. There were no major pop hits resulting from the project and it has been almost forgotten. Don't let that put you off. It's worth a listen. There are additional solo tracks by George including his UK top 20 pop hit I Ain't Lyin'.
