Red Devil 0541 ONETIME Lightweight Spackling, 1 Gallon, White

This stuff has been great. Easy to use, drys in minutes and is easy to sand and then paints had our walls looking like new for the sale of our house. My only complaint is how messy it can be, would recommend putting down a towel or drop sheet if you’re working with this.

I can’t say enough about this product. When it first arrived I thought I got cheated because it felt like there was nothing there, opening the container and find it full was quite a surprise. It is so freakin light that you can climb a latter with it, work on a ceiling or easily maneuver while holding the container or one with stuff in it while working easily. Naturally, I was skeptical because it just seemed too light, but I was very surprised to see that it dried really fast and very solid so it’s kind of like a little fluffy miracle. You can easily layer it, sand and paint over it. I tell everyone I know about it.

I bought this because I wanted something that was less expensive than air dry clay. My husband recommended spackle, so after some research, I found this. It scoops out of the bucket like slightly frozen cool whip, which was rather fun. I put mine in a gallon ziplock bag to pipe into my shapes (pretzel). At first, it was really hard to pipe out, but after handling it and it warming up in my hands, it became much easier to pipe into shape. I had to try to use really light touches when smoothing imperfections, because it doesn't smooth like clay at all. So far, these sat out overnight to cure, and they feel pretty light and dry. I can tell the inside isn't set completely, so we'll let them keep curing for a while. Then I'm going to paint them and put sprinkles on them (chocolate covered pretzels). Was a good crafting purchase!

I should clarify first, that I do not use these for normal spackle purposes. I use this spackle to create fake whipped cream and it is absolutely perfect for these purposes. It is a true white (unlike many other brands that are grayish) and is easy to pipe and form into décor. It is also much less expensive than many other spackles and is easy to clean up. I tried multiple other brands before this one and none of them even slightly compare in quality for my purposes. I can't speak to how well it works for typically spackling purposes but I will say that it does take a significant amount of time to dry (3-4 days) when used in large quantities like these fake whipped cream mug toppers shown. I have purchased dozens of these gallon buckets and will continue to do so.
