Best of both worlds!
Finally got rid of my old carry on. I loved that it was hardsided, but hated how much space it took up when left open. This is the best of both worlds. It is probably not as solid as other hardsided suitcases, because of the configuration. There's definitely some flex and I can see how the zipper could be a weak point, since it runs over an edge. I do not plan to check this bag, so hopefully it won't be an issue. It holds a ton, is easy to close and the organizer pockets are nice. I love the wheels! My old suitcase was at least 10 years old (and another brand - Brookstone) and I didn't realize how much progress they've made in wheels. When pulling my old spinner suitcase on carpet, I usually had to pull it behind me, tipped over like a 2- wheeled suitcase; the friction was too great to let it glide next to me upright. With this one, packed just as full, I was able to keep it upright next to me while hustling across airport carpet. It is just barely small enough to fit in overhead compartment of the old Southwest Airlines planes. I almost panicked when I first put up there, but it closed without a problem.I've only gone on one trip so far. I'll update after I've used it a bit more.

Great carry on with one tiny flaw vs. older model
As far as my research took me, this is the only semi hard carry on that also has an 80-20 compartment, which is a must-have for me so that I can open the bag in small spaces and not have to lay both sides flat. Unfortunately compared to the prior model, the two zipper compartments on the lid side of the bag have been signifciantly reduced in size for what seems to be no reason. Before, there was space below AND above the zipper (that is the zipper enclosed the compartments from about 70% of the way up. Now, the zipper is very close to the actual lining of the bag and therefore can't be "overstuffed" if you will. Not sure why they did this, can't see any real reason behind it. Other than that though it's a wonderful piece of luggage

Best access
I bought this strictly because of the top opening. I never undertood why a suitcase had to be split in half, as most are. I saw one like this at a Japanese airport once (they have the best suitcases) and have been looking for this design ever since. So happy to find it here on Amazon. It falls one star short because it doesn't feel very durable. The walls are very thin and flimsy. But I guess you get what you pay for. Suitcases like this are usually more pricey.

This is great!
I bought the carry on size and I love it!! It’s a beautiful luggage, nice space inside that fits a lot clothes. Little pockets inside. The wheels run perfect and it comes with lockers!! happy with my purchase!

Top opening
I really like the hard-sided luggage with top opening. Most hard-side bags open like a clamshell taking up double the space when opened. This luggage opens on top like most soft-sided luggage. The top opening makes it easier to pack and easier to use on a luggage rack.
