Alarm.com upgrade from a Simon 3 control panel to a Simon XTi control panel meant that my X-10 light switches no longer could be controlled through the panel and Alarm.com (e.g., to turn on outdoor lights at sunset and to turn them off at sunrise).These Z-Wave switches solved that problem.One tip: Before you order a Z-Wave switch for any given location, be sure that there is a neutral (white-covering) wire in the same gang box. You don't have to connect to the ground (green) wire, but you must connect to the neutral (white) wire to make these Z-Wave switches work. Older homes, unless they were rewired later, may have only a power line (with electricity from the breaker box) and a load line (to the light fixture). You need that white neutral line, too.P.S. My upgrade from Simon 3 to Simon XTi, which was forced by a dying Simon 3, had a side benefit. Instead of setting fixed light-on and light-off times at Alarm.com, the site's XTi-compliant automation interface let me choose "sunset" for on and "sunrise" for off. This will save me several re-edits of on and off times throughout the year.

ZWave is so cool. I have these paired with a Vera Lite home automation controller. They just work, what can be said about a light switch? Controlling my home from my phone is rather awesome.You really need to be immersed in Home Automation to really get the benefit from these.come with white and beige paddles, will need to provide face plates.

I use these all over my house. I am up to about 30 or so of them. just add a generic zwave device on Vera. Easy to install. Turn it on or off when adding it to vera. Vera will find it easy.

Works well. I like the blue illuminated light when the light is off to make it easier to find the switch if needed.
