Quality is good. very sturdy and heavy, built is solid.

Not meant to hold heavy equipment, but a decent sturdy tripod for a regular Digital SLR camera or smaller video camera. I ordered a few replacement tripod quick-release mounting plates to have an extra and be able to leave one on my camera for easy use. This is super lightweight, easy to use and perfect to store in your car or a duffle bag. This is my second one - my last one had for 20+ years - accidently broke the handle.

My original SLIK U-212 was purchased in the early 80's and needed to be replaced due to wear over a long period. I found the U884 and decided to give it a try as the replacement. On opening it, I quickly tested its features and found that it was almost identical in operation to my previous tripod, which is what I wanted. I use SLR cameras which are professional grade and substantial in size and weight. The tripod has the familiar quick release along with the crank to raise and lower the stem. The build quality is very good and the weight is very light. I also like how small the tripod is when fully folded. It also has my favorite clamp-style telescoping leg releases. The only feature I wish it had was a hook on the bottom of the stem to add just a bit of weight for windy conditions.All in all, I recommend the tripod for anyone who wants versatility in tripod size, ease of use, quick set up, precision adjustments ( including a level bubble) as well as very light weight for travel. Excellent purchase.
