Marinco30A & 50A Sealing Rings

Works Like a Charm
Amazon appears to mix reviews of different Marinco Sealing Rings together. This review is for the "30A Sealing Collar & Threaded Ring". It is intended to create a weather proof seal at the junction of two extension cords. It only works with Marinco cords. The two cords should already have sealing rings on the female ends (if not, you can get a new ring on this page). This Sealing Collar & Threaded Ring supplies another ring that you need to install on the male end of one of the cords (the end where the join will be made). You will have to slip the ring over the flange near the plug. Check the cord end that already has the ring installed as an example. This may seem impossible at first, but if you do it correctly, it's easy. As reviewer G. Or J. Horn suggested, start pushing the ring over the flange at a angle on one side. Work the ring over the flange at one of the leading edges, "similar to mounting a tire". After the half way point, it goes very quickly. I did not need to use any pry tools.Once you have the ring installed, attach the collar to one of the rings, connect the cords and attach the second ring to the other end of collar. Now you have a weather proof connection that will also secure the cords together. As some reviewers observed, these fine thread rings tend to stick, especially if dirt gets into the thread. Cleaning occupationally with a tooth brush, maybe using some window cleaner, helps. Applying a light coat of petroleum jelly doesn't hurt, but it also attracts dirt.

Difficult to install and then VERY tight and doesn't turn without force.
Once installed it won't turn to screw onto my camper plug-in without extreme force (using pliers). It is so tight I cannot turn it by hand. The threads match just fine and it is the right model/size for my camper and cord but it is so tight on the rubber it barely turns even with pliers. Using a little olive oil has helped but not much. It was NOT an easy installation either. Even with a hair dryer and then a heat gun it took a long time and I was afraid it was going to break. I finally got it on my camper electrical cord after significant prying, use of a screwdriver and lots of heat and olive oil. It seriously took me over 30 minutes to put on!

Perfect replacement.
PERFECT replacment for my cracked threaded ring. With nothing other than a flat blade screwdriver to depress the FLANGE of the femail plug on my 30 Amp cord... the ring was slipped over the flange in a manner similar to mounting a tire... just work it around the flange with thumb pressure along the rim until it slips over the flange on the plug. The flange will "flex" sufficiently to allow this. Do NOT work the ring directly with the screwdriver or it may crack again. Use the screwdriver on the FLANGE to start the process... Easy/Peasy.

Better instructions, great product
Marinco makes quality products. Would have made things simpler to clearly note this would be the adaptor for cord AND best way to fit onto cord..Saw heatgun used in past, have no idea if correct - never could find recommendationsHad no heat gun, compromised by using exhaust on truck (not recommended) was in pinch

Fits like the original ring.
I only needed the ring, but I ordered this set so I didn’t have to wait a week or two because the ring (by itself) was out of stock. I put a little bit of liquid dish soap around the connector on my power cord, and twisted the ring into place. It was easier to put on than I was expecting, yet feels like it will stay on properly. I have the 30 amp Marinco power cord, and this is the correct ring for it.

Filled the bill
The ring on my 50 amp cord finally cracked after 18 years of use. This replacement fit perfect. It is different than the original in that the original screwed on. This unit "locks" on. I don't think the fit is as tight but it should do the trick. For anybody wondering... The Marinco 50 amp cord I have has the yellow end inlet plug. The portion around the end of the plug is slightly flared to keep the plastic ring from coming off. This flared portion is soft rubber and can be manipulated to allow the old ring to slide off the and new ring on. There is no dismantling of the plug that needs to be done.Recommended!

Size does matter
I originally tried to place a ring that I had lying around over the end of one of my shore power connectors, and I nearly killed myself during my failed effort! Then I discovered that there are in fact two sizes, and some shore power connectors need the larger 50A size. Got this one, and it slipped on easily, and secures tightly. Hernia cured

Fragile and overpriced.
The locking tabs on these are VERY fragile and the the price is way too high. I broke off a tab on my original ring when I dropped the power cord after unplugging from my RV. I hope this replacement lasts longer. I love the cord/locking ring combo, but either these need to made more sturdy, or drop the price.

Works as intended
Hard to put on but a little heat helps soften the plug so the ring will go over the ridge.
