Great travel bag
I hesitated to purchase this bag because I thought it might be poorly sewn, with cheap zippers. So glad I bought this backpack. I used it for a solid week, for day hikes in a national park. The zippers are excellent. The shoulder straps, although thin, were surprisingly comfortable. The backpack is very easy to fold up into its storage pocket. It easily held all my gear, which I sometimes wished I had brought less of for the hikes, ha ha. The stitching is solid, weight distribution is good, ease of use is excellent, packability is first rate. If you are looking for a lightweight bag that you can stuff into your suitcase or carry-on, this is the one. Price is appropriate to the quality, you will be pleased with your purchase.

Clever, Useful Design Details. Does fit a pair of two-liter bottles in side pouches strapped from falling out.
Update after months of using:Yes, it's true that that one of the zippers gets stuck. The one on the top of the front side. The pack is stitched to cover the zipper, probably against rain. (It's where I sometimes put my cellphone, so I'm glad.) But opening it without the zipper getting stuck is a two hand job. Which isn't the worst thing: makes it harder for a person behind you to steal. It unzips easily enough. Though yes this is an annoyance. I'm leaving it at five stars because I'm not sure how they could have done it "better" without adding weight or bulk. Which still amazes me how light but sturdy this pack seems.Straps are comfortable even when carrying two TWO-Liter bottles of water. And the top carry handle is handy and good, too.The only thing the pack does not do, is hold it's shape when empty. Which I specifically like -- I bought it to pack it "formless" into a larger bag to then use on arrival. I mention it, because I find I like the pack and have been using it in more situations. So now, holding itself open might be nice. Not sure I'll ever go back to the classic overkill day/study backpacks I used to drag with me everywhere.--Original review:Even more cleverly designed than I expected. What this backpack improves on:+The bottle pouches: This is the first backpack I've owned or seen firsthand where the pouches can actually hold the huge tall bottles I use. Thanks to the horizontal strap above each pocket, and the forgiving main material of the pack, even a TWO Liter (half gallon!!) water bottle sits in the drink pouch, and is strapped upright to not fall. One on each side, even. (Admittedly this encroaches into the main pouch area a bit, but I think that moves the weight more central and am glad.+The pocket it zips itself nto: Lots of packs and bags zip down into a small pocket. That's not new. But this one, when in use that same zipper, turned inside out, becomes a handy little front pocket. With a great internal mesh see-through pocket. Which mesh pocket shows when it's all zipped down into itself, too, so if you want something easily accessed, it's available either state.+Several internal pockets, inside each section. More than I'll need, but they don't add bulk.+Shoulder straps actually are well padded compared to what I expected. Without adding weight or bulk. And, they'll breathe, which matters for hot days.+Stitching reinforced with material in several key stress areas.+Straps each serve a purpose, and are long enough. Clips and zippers work smoothly and are a pleasure.Note that the main compartment is tall, which I specifically wanted, to accommodate certain gear. It's not overly wide. But I THINK it would accommodate a basketball. (But while doing that, might prevent it from fitting 2 two-liter bottles in the outer side pouches at the same time.)Negative: The whistle doesn't work so well, or maybe there's a trick to how to blow it. That wasn't what I bought it for anyway.I looked at almost every similar pack on Amazon before I chose this one. There were one or two others very close to it. And one that looked better. But after reading reviews, asking questions, I chose this one. Glad I did.

Great Youth Day Pack for Cub Scouts
I have purchased three of these. I initially purchased a different bag for my 9 year old son for use at scout camp but realized it was a bit too big for his back. I decided to give this one a try, and if was much more proportionate to his size and definitely more lightweight. The fact that it folds nicely into itself makes it very easy to stash in a larger bag if you wanted to have a backpack during a trip or vacation. It has adequate pockets, and despite being smaller, it held all of my son's gear as a day pack for resident camp, including a towel, bathing suit, flip flops, rain jacket, scout book, and much more. He had some heavy rain during his second year, and he was one of the few who seemed to still have dry stuff in his bag. I would not say it is completely water proof, but it held up much better than other bags brought by other scouts. They also tend to have to place their bags on the ground alot at camp, but it has cleaned up nicely. He has used it on many hikes and at family camps as well. We will soon be entering his third year of use, and it still looks almost brand new. I purchased the second for myself because I chaperone scoutcamp and wanted a second bag to take to the pool or bath house without lugging my larger bag and that would fit into the lockers there. Another scout's bag ended up breaking and used my extra bag for the remainder of resident camp, and they asked their mom to get one after. Their new bag has held up well so far. I also purchased one as a gift for a new scout in our family because I felt that it worked so nicely as a youth backpack. It does fit fine on my back. I am 5'6" and on the heavier side, but I do have narrow shoulders. My husband who, also has narrow shoulders, is 6', and the bag was ridiculously small on him, so would not recommend for taller or people with wide shoulders. I have recommended this bag to several as Scouting families as they prepare for day camps and resident camps. The reason Igave it four stars is that the material is quite thin. The same material that helps to make it so light weight is also what I feel makes it perhaps less durable. Also, there is not much in terms of padding in the shoulder straps, so do believe this bag may not get for those that might need to carry a heavier load or carry their bags for long, extended periods of time. Overall, it is a great bag for the price though, and I will continue to recommend it with all of its color choices to my scouting families.

Perfect as a spare backpack
This is most certainly not a heavy duty backpack, but it’s not sold as one. It has zero frame and padding like a substantial backpack would have. It does however fold & zipper back into itself with ease. It has additional pockets on the inside & outside. It is light and works fine to bring on a plane or hold more than a pocketbook would hold. It’s very reasonably priced. Numerous colors to choose from. There is a chest strap that was helpful. Again, it’s not substantial but you can be hands free and it works.

Great small bag with a lot of storage space
I ordered this bag as a small carryon for a trip. When I opened the package, the backpack appeared smaller than expected. I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover because it was much more spacious than it initially seemed. The separate pockets with zippers and without were plentiful. The main zipper has 2 pull tabs which I appreciate. It’s lightweight but durable and easily folds up into the original small bag shape as it arrived. I like the colors I purchased (blue and orange) and the adjustable straps make it comfortable to wear for long periods. Very happy with this bag especially for the cost.
