Nice sound; shotgun alone does an excellent job of keeping focused.On the Zoom series, this mic records the shotgun in one channel (L), the directional ambient in another (R). To get the wide stereo, and/or full mono, requires some modest post that can be done with any number of DAWs, free and otherwise. Pan shotgun track to middle and mute ambient in post, and you have an excellent dual mono file perfect for VO recording. Dupe, invert and pan the ambient channel for adjustable width stereo effect. Easy peasy.Note: It is easier to use this mic with an extension cable and the mic mounted on a shock mount and tripod or boom or hand grip. (I carry the H5 in a canvas case clipped to a belt loop.) The mic is much lighter and easier to manipulate without hand noise than the H5 with shotgun capsule attached directly. You can even put your cell phone in a grip with a cold shoe, shotgun & extension on that, and second-record the audio for sync to the cell video later . . . Good quality, good sound focus, reasonable price, VERY useful.

This totally isolates my voice using it on my Zoom H6 with the 80 Hz low cut filter engaged. Other microphones are a tad louder with same settings. I can't wait to use this outside during the next thunderstorm. With this microphone, having a sound treated room isn't that big of a deal any longer.

I tested it indoor & outdoor . It recorded my band while practicing and I just loved it . I can hear everything clearly .

So far, I love everything about this mic...sounds great for interviews, adjustable side mics for "ambience", and in relatively quiet settings, it obviates the need for lavalier mics. Have not used it outdoors yet. I use it with the Zoom H5.
