Why exactly do the trapped moths die ? they don't need to eat. do they dehydrate? some stay trapped alive for several days. i'm just curious.

Well the glue TRAP doesn't kill them, per se... as you even mentioned, they live for days after being stuck sometimes. The lifespan of the adult moths are only a few days to a week. So depending on what day of their 5-7 day lifespan they are caught, they will only live a few days more, regardless.

Will this work outdoors? we have a moth problem on our patio

I don't think the moths on your patio outdoors are the same moths this attracts. These are for small moths that breed in stored grain, like birdseed and food. Not the big ones that fly around lights at night.

How do these traps trap both male and female moths, as advertised? pheromones only attract males. so how are females attracted? or is this false? 🤨

It's true pheromones only attract males. It's advertised that it CAPTURES male an female, does not attract (a bit misleading). In my case I have a Cockateil and the seed that I feed him attracts many food moths. Even so, the trap works great and I get large numbers of moths in a short time. After a while I usually don't see many, or any at all, females. It works better than anything else I tried and way better than nothing.

Does this work for coddling moths

I don't know what a coddling moth is. It works for pantry moths. That is what I bought it for
