It normally shows 7-8 characters through the opening depending on how taut you have the sleeve. It may not show that many when you first get the sleeve because it needs time to stretch out, but be patient. Any characters beyond 8 can't be seen through the opening, but you can still kind of read them because the sleeve is not 100% opaque.
