Q: Are the sides of the purple one hemmed (can it be used and washed regularly without unraveling)? I know at least one review said theirs were not.

Two of the sides are hemmed and two of them have regular 'selvedges' - made to not ravel. If the hems came loose, you'd get raveling on only those two sides. I have not yet laundered mine one is on a wall and two are on beds. I love mine - they are just like the ones I used to have in the late 60s!

Q: what do you hang these with?

Put a command strip on the back of a clothes pin and clip the tapestry to the pin and stick the command strip on the wall

Q: Is this tapestry more purple or blue ?

The tapestry is mostly a magenta-like color. If your heart is set on a multicolored tie-dye effect or if you prefer blues & greens, find a better option. I'm disappointed, as my tapestry doesn't look much like the picture.
