Eye pleasing Cool Simplistic (but Fun) "glorified paperweight" for lovers of astronomy!
A two piece unit consisting of a trapezium base and a Faux-Crystal/ solid glass globe with different sized colored balls inside, representing the planets in our solar system, orbiting the sun. (minus ex-planet Pluto) With the small size of the globe, (about the size of a standard baseball?), the detailing is minimal & simplistic, but for me, this is a very cool desk decoration and conversation starter. The operation is very simple which is good, as there were NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED! Through trial & error, I learned that you turn on the LED light function by simply just twisting/screwing-in the tiny battery tube into the LED mechanism in the bottom of the base. The light cycles through various flashing colors until you unscrew it to turn it off. The base was initially confusing as I wasn't sure which side the globe was supposed to rest on--as both the top and bottom have a 'concave depression' to cradle the globe. But the globe is meant to sit on the closed smallest end of the trapezium base (the opposite end where battery & LED device fits) The globe is just meant to rest precariously in the small smooth polished depression of the base--but it's not secure at all! So if it's in a high-traffic area with pets, children, etc.,--it will easily fall off the base and break, if even gently bumped! What i like to do to showcase this to friends, is turn the light function on, then "manually" give the globe a twist with my hand, and make it 'SPIN' on the base (like a child's 'toy top') simulating a spiralling solar system that will spin for about 60 seconds. Also--in a darkened room, the globe acts as a kind of 'weird lens' funnelling/projecting the LED lights through it and onto the ceiling in various simple, small, but beautiful, circular light patterns.
