This uses static pressure to help knots release. It does not glide, you do not rub with it. You leverage the rubber balls together to squeeze your tight muscles into submission. It works great for all the muscles on the side of the neck, SCM, scalenes, traps, levator scap, and even the suboccipitals and other muscles on the rear. It's harder to use on your own shoulder, but not too bad when you lean against a chair. I've used it right above my knee joint and on my calves. The plastic seems pretty sturdy and durable, and meant to withstand all the bending. But I've only had it a short time. I use a theracane often for my knots, but for neck issues I much prefer this. You get even bilateral pressure. And since you only have to squeeze the handles together to create leverage, it's much easier than a theracane (which requires a lot of work on create your own leverage).
