Q: What 'material' is the fabric made of?

It’s a spandex material which is polyester based. If you are allergic to polyester don’t use these. Open pores from heat and sweat will probably make you break out faster. Stick with cotton

Q: Does this work well with long hair?

Yes. I have long thick hair and it works best with a ponytail or high bun.

Q: Can i cover my ears with it? i need one to hide an earbud. normally i use

I think you could use this to cover your ears. I find it uncomfortable to have it over my ears.

Q: I sweat like you wouldn't believe. Would this work to keep the sweat from getting in my eyes?

Me too, esp. from my forehead. I play in a band and typically go through at least 2 cotton bandanas rolled and tied like headbands during a 3-hour gig, regardless of the air temperature. I used this Temple Tape sweatband under a ball cap for a gig last Saturday and it really worked. For $9 it's worth a try, I would say.
