Creative and Innovative
This movie invokes a different take on pollution. Yes, the pollution of the planet , but also the corruption of humanity and the erosion of values and principles as poisoning to human DNA. These very deep and interesting issues are approached in a non-preachy and completely innovative and creative way. The young actors playing the leads are excellent and adorable and the supporting adults deliver competent performances. I believe this movie can be enjoyed for both it's message and as pure entertainment.

Best Family Friendly Sci-Fi Movie!
This is the BEST family friendly Sci-Fi movie ever made! Fantastic storyline and phenomenal cinematography come together with a powerful ensemble cast. This includes: Rainn Wilson (The Office, Utopia), Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Armageddon), Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms, We're The Millers), Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People, Leverage), Joely Richardson (The Patriot, Red Sparrow), Kirsten Williamson (RV, Juno), and the two child stars of the movie Chris O'Niel (The Dark Ages, Breakaway) & Rhiannon Leigh Wryn (The Hulk, Monster Mutt). I am baffled by how few people know about this movie. It's rarely available for free through the streaming services, so everyone should go buy this movie and watch it alone or with your children this weekend. I said to BUY it because you'll DEFINITELY want to see it again and again!

As sci-fi goes it is intelligent and compelling
The Last Mimsy is an exceptional, heart-warming and positive science-fiction film both for children and adults. It is as others have commented one of the few sci-fi movies that is truly child-friendly. As sci-fi goes it is intelligent and compelling, one of the few future-referent films addressing the deep future i.e. millions of years hence, as opposed to just a few decades or centuries. It is a good reworking for film of the original novel by Kuttner that preserves the link with the classic nonsense poem "Jabberwocky" containing the "Mimsy" reference thus introducing children to Lewis Carol's great novels "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the looking glass". The film builds up tension and mystery expertly with charming and real child lead roles, and the visual special effects are first class. The contrasting of the children's warm embrace of the benevolent beyond with the superstitious and narrow-minded negative adult responses leads the viewer to lament what is truly lost with childhood - this theme was taken up by the wonderful film song by Roger Waters "Hello - I love you". Only one negative gripe - an irritating green political message thrown in (by adults) with the nonsensical idea that pollutants change DNA and that a non-green lifestyle could lead to one growing a second head (Hollywood "science"). But notwithstanding this, the movie is excellent and watchable many times over.

great short story, pretty good movie
this movie is from one of my favorite sci-fi short stories: Mimsy were the Borogoves. the movie vered from the short story and took a LOT of criticism for it, but for it to be made into a children's movie it had to vere away, the ending HAD to be modified. it kept to most of the plot fairly well, and i thought the dramtic license taken was reasonable. otherwise, it would have been a thriller. children could not have been an audience in the movie the sci-fi purists wanted because children could not have put what they were seeing in context. i liked the movie, and bought it for my grandchildren, along with a mimsy (rabbit) doll from Warner Bros. if you want to read some good controversy, read reviews of this movie, and it wouldn't hurt to read the short story as well. the short story raises issues about our (mis)perceptions of children, to the effect that because children aren't at our "level" we tend to underestimate them as the powerfully creative and perceptually astute beings that they really are. their potential is lost on us. that is the gist of the short story and movie, and in saying that, i do not believe that i have given anything away.

the great Roger Waters - "Hello
What t me to this movie was a video of the song from the film. Only available on thee soundtrack, the great Roger Waters - "Hello, I Love You".No, this is NOT The Doors song! It is probably the most radio friendly and fabulous song by Waters! With lines lifted from a few Pink Floyd classics, this song stays in my head all day! I caught 3/4 of the movie on cable and loved what I saw so I was off to Amazon! Sure enough, again...they had in stock a DVD not available anywhere else! Even though the main characters are 2 children, I don't consider this a "Kid's Film". It's a good sci-fi/fantasy story with great visual effects....the story is heart warming about Mimzy, a stuffed plush rabbit. Without giving away the story, this bunny has been around! A great couple movie or family film. It's not corny or cheesy. It should be priced pretty low by now. It's worth owning. I have watched it a few times. Good casting of the adults too with a different role for Rainn Wilson "Dwight Schrute" of "The Office" and currently on the new series, the crime, comedy drama, "Backstrom". "The Last Mimzy" also stars Tim Hutton, Joely Richardson, (The Late) Michael Clarke Duncan & Kathryn Hahn.

Wonderfully Amazing Sci-Fi Film
I thought this was an amazing Sci-Fi film but not one of my favorites. Great scenes of two kids who have special powers, before they saw a box floating towards them in to the ocean. Not gonna tell the rest, you'll have to see it. Great performances and roles by Rainn Wilson, Timothy Hutton, Joely Richardson and Michael Clark Duncan (R.I.P.). I recommend it if you'll like Sci-Fi films.

I bought copies for all my brothers and sisters: a step in the right direction, watch it WITH your children and grandchildren
I came across this film by chance and am pleased that I did, the messages contained within are deep and meaningful and are ones that none of us on earth at this spiritual time can ignore. Our children and future generations focus on the here and now to protect tomorrow. An introduction to young people and a reminder to those of a more mature generation to the metaphysical 'return' to source energy that would help heal the wounded earth we all call home and are likely to for generations to come, if we can return to the simple beauty of life.I would recommend that this film be given due respect and allotted a specific time period to watch it, particularly with our youngsters

Mimzy Magic
This movie slipped my net when it arrived at the cinema. A pleasing family movie unwinds from when the kids find a box on the beach. This time "The kids" have the power to solve complex problems and other things along the way with excitement and scary bits thrown in.Good movie for the whole family although it carries a PG rating.later similar movie with kids finding a box on the beach is of course "Jumangi" with Robin Williams and others, where the role players had no control over the game but in this film the kids have control. The Last Mimzy is an excellent sci-fi fantasy film as the writing on the box says.

she loved it and wouldn't stop talking about it and when ...
I watched this film with my 7 yr old granddaughter earlier in the year on TV. she loved it and wouldn't stop talking about it and when she went on holiday in August, to the seaside, she was hoping to find something like what was in the film, in the sea. So this is why I bought it for her for Christmas, she will love this.

Cute and quirky
It does have a slightly weak story and is reminiscent of many other better sci-fi movies of this genre but my kids loved it and desperately wanted to buy the Mimzy bunny after the movie!!To sum up, it is easy whole family viewing, and at this price it cannot really be faulted (despite those home critics who will rubbish it)
