Arcturus Adventure Stories for Daring Girls

I am sure mygrest niece will enjoy this book.

The illustrations are lovely. But the stories aren't so wonderful in my opinion - many are ridiculously abridged versions of classics like Alice in Wonderland or The Wizard of Oz, which have been cut down to a much less enjoyable few pages. I'd thought they were all original short stories. Instead you get things basically like: Dorothy lives in Kansas, she's blown away to Oz, she meets three people, they find the Wizard of Oz, she melts the Wicked Witch, the Wizard flies off, Dorothy clicks her heels, and she's back home. Kinda takes the joy out of the story!Also, unfortunately the quality of writing isn't great and there are some pretty glaring typos and sentences that make no sense.I'd definitely recommend the Usborne 'Forgotten Fairytales of Brave and Brilliant Girls' over this one - it's much much much better!
