an excellent walking/hiking/workout shoe
My wife has been a life long Merrell fanatic and I finally gave in and bought my first pair. I have to say I am over the moon with this shoe/sneaker/boot and I now use it for everything related to training and working out. Specifically, I use it with my indoor bike trainer as well as my outdoor MTB; I use it on the treadmill as well as walking outdoors; I use it on my elliptical; I use it when I weight train. In all these activities this is without a doubt the best shoe/sneaker/boot I've ever owned. What makes it great: the cushion of the shoes molded sole; the molded insert; the overall design which is neither too tight, or too loose and generally adjusts with your foot as it gets swollen when hot and active and last but not least the outstanding grip that works fantastic for all the activities I listed. Price can vary wildly depending on model, but I am confident there are good reasons for that - I highly recommend this shoe.

Wow! Fit and function surpassed all my expectations!
Shoes are a tricky thing for me, and for most people probably. I have sensitive feet in that every time I purchase a new pair I will inevitably end up getting blisters somewhere, whether it be on the bottom of my foot, the back of my heel, or the top of my toes. I know this going in. I always purchase higher-quality shoes. Comfort and durability are what I care about. I've tried various good brands - and been very happy with many of them. These shoes though - they stand above all the others I have tried.I had no prior knowledge of these shoes going in - I just came across them and liked the style. I already trust the brand - I have owned a pair of Merrell hiking boots before and they were very good. Deciding to give these a shot, I chose the red, which is a shade I very much like, and hoped that they would be a good, versatile shoe. I have worn them for half a year now and they are excellent. The soles are thick enough for hiking. Some shoes have soles a little too thin so that jagged rocks or uneven surfaces become a nuisance, but these handle everything well. They are not as thick as a hiking boot, but that's good. I want versatility. Hiking boots tend to be very stiff and not as conducive for everyday wear. These are flexible. They're comfortable to walk in so I wear them all of the time. They have an element of stiffness, but without the cumbersome rigidity of many other types of shoes. Also, somehow I have never gotten a single blister with these shoes. This is the first time I could ever say that about a new pair. I would not hold it against them if I did get some blisters, but I just simply haven't. The fit for me is incredible. They are snug and secure in every way while still affording my toes and sides of my feet the perfect amount of room and cushion to operate properly. I suppose many think that this is what should be expected of a shoe. Well, maybe, but I haven't found it for myself until now. The proportions are perfect.I use these shoes for everyday wear, hiking, and walking construction sites sometimes when my job requires it. I wear them in all types of conditions including flat, hilly, dirty, rocky, and wet terrains. The fabric is easy to keep clean and the tread has not unduly worn down. These will last me for a long, long time to come. Also, I have experienced with other shoes premature separating of the sole from the upper, whether it be on the front by the toes, or at the back by the heel. No such separation has occurred with these. I am impressed with the manufacturing quality.Because I have never found the "perfect" shoe for my feet before I always try new or different brands when trying replacements. However, after experiencing the fit and feel of these I know I will absolutely buy these again whenever that time should come. I don't take for granted the fact that these shoes are blister-free, incredibly comfortable, versatile, and durable. Granted - they aren't "perfect" for me as far as their aesthetics. I love the red color, but the gray piping all over the toe and sides is something I would change if I had the capability of doing so. That small quibble aside, I never expected to find shoes that I like this much. Everyone's feet and needs are different, but I confidently recommend giving these a try. 5 stars easily!

Nice shoe except for the laces
Have had several similar pairs of Merrells before. They fit well and walk well. I have very flat feet and generally wear orthotics. I can go without them wearing these shoes. The only downside is the laces. The Merrells I've had before had substantial round laces. These came with a flat lace. Not quite a flat after market shoe lace but similar. Took them out and put the laces from one of my old pairs in. Those laces were starting to fall apart but they were superior to the laces which came with these shoes.

The worst Merrells ever
I buy a pair of Merrells yearly - the newest ones I wear to the office and around town and keep clean, the year old ones become my adventure shoes for hiking and running, and the two-year old shoes become my yard shoes. I have repeated this cycle yearly for almost a decade now. I figured I'd try something new and try these Moab Edges instead of my usual All Out Blaze shoe. That was a mistake. The shoes are comfortable and provide good support. I haven't taken them hiking (again office shoes), but they've gripped fine on snowy surfaces walking to and from my car. My initial impression of these shoes was ok - they don't breathe like the All Out Blaze, but they do provide more support, so they had advantages and disadvantages. That said, these are not the nice, durable Merrells I'm used to. Since I bought these 8 months ago, the tread has completely separated in the front and they look shabby. The right shoe squelches when I walk on it. My old pair of Merrells that I use for adventuring look better other than the tread, and those shoes have literally thousands of hiking and running miles on them.I'd recommend Merrells to anyone - the All Out Blaze has served me well for many pairs. I'd never buy the Moab again though.

Great purchase, super comfortable
I took a chance and bought these without trying them on, and absolutely love them. Right out of the box they were comfortable and I was able to hike in them for a few days in a row with perfect comfort. The arch support is definitely present, in the right place, but not uncomfortable. The sole is extremely grippy; I was able to do a lot of rock-hopping/light bouldering with confidence. For reference, I wear a women's 10.5, and either a 41 N in Birkenstocks or a 42.5 in cycling shoes. I ordered the men's 9.5 and they're perfect. A friend of mine who wears either a 9 or 9.5 tried them on and decided to buy the 9. They definitely don't run small. I always have to buy men's athletic shoes because I have fairly large bunions and a women's toe box is too narrow. I'm able to snug up the laces in the midfoot and forefoot to make those sections fit more closely.

Great hiking shoe for nearly all terrain
I have had these shoes for several months and I have put many, many miles a week on them and they work as advertised. I am a big disc golf person which requires a lot of hiking up and down hills in all kinds of weather and these handle everything and then some. Great boot, I give it a four only because the water resistant quality is very good but not perfect when you get into a puddle. Still highly recommended.

Merrell quality at a fantastic price
It is a bit of a lottery buying shoes online but having previous experience of Merrell I went for a half size larger, ie 8.5 rather than 8 UK. I have wide feet and a D last can be snug and there is certainly just a slight tightness in the forefoot with these. I expect this will give with further use and having worn a pair for a couple of days I have had no discomfort. Maybe this is due to the rounded design of the toe box. They feel really comfortable and stable and am looking forward to some long days out. The build quality appears excellent.I tend to use quite thin socks (Hilly mono skin) that have been worn in, anything thicker would just not work with these shoes and my wide feet.Once I have put in more miles I will update and hopefully add an extra star if all goes well.

Fantastic shoe, light, good arch support and heel impact cushioning. Cant sing their praises enough
Best shoes i have ever bought. I have now ordered 3 more just incase they stop selling them ^^I walk 6-10 hours a day. My feet don't even feel that bad after 10 hours. Some other shoes I have my feet feel worse after 3 hours than 10 in these. They are as durable as you could expect. After 3 months the tread looks thin, and the padding does not provide the same comfort. but i still managed to get another month and bit out of them.I replaced the insole after 3 months, which increased comfort but kind of ruined the nice arch support.5/5 highly recommend

10/10. 6th pair... please keep making them for ever!
I've been buying these when they have been on offer for 2 years now. Incredible shoe. I walk 5-10 hours a day and have no pain in these. After 3 months the tread starts to thin and the comfort starts to fade a little. But they are still wearable for another 3 before tears start to form. What would really help is the ability to buy the insoles. They degrade before the shoe looks like a hobo's. Replacing insoles when the inside of the shoe is so perfectly contoured is harder than you would think.

I really liked the shoe
I really liked the shoe. I was expecting a flimsy cloth feel to the top, but it felt multi-layered and like it might actually stay reasonably waterproof. Sadly, I will never find out as these shoes are a narrow fit and I have wide, hobbit feet! I take a 9 usually, ordered a 9.5 and tried a 10 in a shop. 9.5 too narrow. 10 better width-wise, but too long, so it just ain't gonna work out for me. Shame, as i liked the shoe.

Excellent
My wife bought these for me for Christmas, I was skeptical at first as a previous purchase from the same manufacturer was a little small. They're amazingly comfortable and lightweight. My only grouse is the fact that the sole is so thick, that when driving with them on, the pedals feel like there's a block of wood between them :)Brilliant otherwise!
