Do these work better than the original Swifter Dry clothes? Yes and no. I live in a house of ALL hardwood floors. We don't have pets, but my two daughters and I all have long, dark hair. I think we shed as much as a houseful of pets :o) So, my Swifter dry mop is a lifesaver, and I use it everyday in the bedrooms and the main thoroughfares of the house. The pros on these new "heavy duty" pads? 1) They have a longer width (left to right on the mop head) so that there is an overage of the pad at either side of the mop. That works for me because the original Swifter pads would sometimes be a little short on the width, and they would curl up on the edges of the mop, exposing the plastic mop head and thus missing dirt and lint. 2) The thicker white "puffs" on the improved mop pads slide under and between furniture better than the original pad. Anyone who has hardwood floors knows that dust can accumulate under the bases of furniture and chairs where it is hard to get reach, especially if you have floor protector pads on the bases of furniture. Those little pads lift the furniture off the floor just enough for dust to get trapped under there, and these new, thicker pads get in all those little nooks and crannies. For those reasons, I like the new mop pads better. They also pick up hair and dust on tile floors a LITTLE better than the original pads which simply pushed the dirt and hair around my tile bathroom floor. Overall, do they pick up more dirt than the original pads? No - they pick up the same amount of dust and lint. But, they perform slightly better on tile, and their more generous sizing is enough for me to buy them again.
