What is the difference between the sets?

Great question! Swanson Tool Co actually offers a number of different sets that offer terrific tools at specially-priced (suggested) retail pricing.  I'm guessing you're asking about the difference between our S0101CB and our SW1201K, is that right?  If not, please call our customer service line and ask for more specific help: (815) 469-9453
The S0101CB is a "kit" that includes both our super-popular 7 inch speed square paired with our also-popular 6 inch combination square.
The SW1201K is a "kit" that includes our 2 best-selling squares: our 7 inch speed square and our "Big 12" Square, the 12 inch speed square. Please note that the 12 inch speed square in this "kit" does not include the layout bar that you see when you look at the S0107 12-inch speed square.
Additionally, we also offer the S0101TC132 "kit" that includes both our 7 inch speed square and our 12 inch combination square.

Packaging says stainless steel. Description says aluminum alloy. Which is it?

The speed square is aluminum and the combination square ruler is stainless.

Hi Altug,
Great question!  Our short answer for you is: Both.  Our speed square uses imperial (US/Inches) marks, and our 6" combo square features both imperial and metric on its ruler.  If you're looking for metric only, we suggest you search for our metric square, the NA202, which Amazon keeps in stock, and our metric combo square options: the SVC133 is like this 6" combo square since it features both imperial (US/Inches) and metric, or the SVCM233, which is metric only on both sides.  Amazon also has both of these combo squares in stock.

What does it mean by "without layout bar"?

Great question!  
At Swanson, we feel strongly that each product description needs to be specific, so you receive exactly the tool you are expecting.
This bundle item, which is model # SW1201K, includes our classic 7" square (the S0101) and the 12" Big Square (the S0107).  However, if you look up the S0107 by itself on Amazon, you'll see it traditionally ships with a layout bar which is an essential component that you would use when working with out-of-square corners and/or creating stair stringers.
We just want to make sure you know that you're still receiving the Big 12" - but for model # SW1201K, the Big 12 does not include the layout bar.
