Love the simplicity of this breakaway device for towing a vehicle behind the motorhome. Easy to install. Just don't do what I did and take the cable out to make installation easier in tight quarters! Spent a long time and a lot of frustration getting the cable back through the breakaway device. Once that was done, piece of cake installing. Don't know why more people don't use this as opposed to the $900 + electric, compressed air, or mechanized devices that will cost another $500 + to have installed! This is simple, straightforward, and easily repaired, if needed by the owner - not so with the other devices on the market. Really recommend consider the in addition to the NSA ReadyBrute Elite toward setup and brakes.

Took about two hours to install. Directions were easy to understand plus there are several YouTube video on installing this brake. Installed it on a JEEP Wrangler. Mounted the ratchet device on base plate like another reviewer did. Ideal location making routing the cable easy. Hardest part was to put cable around brake pedal and secure cable clamp as it a tight area to reach into. Like many have said in their reviews , I hope I never need this but it’s great piece of mind to know the vehicle won’t go running into someone or off a mountain side in case of a tow bar or hitch failure. Great product requiring no power or batteries. So simple.

Works well. If someone in a parking pulls the cable far enough out the front of the car you will be faced with loosening the cable to drive home. DO NOT unscrew the nut where the cable goes into the red braking device. There is a button that is hard to see that when depressed makes the cable move freely both ways. IF you did unscrew the nut, as I did, the mfg told me they use locknut goo from a tube to keep the nut from coming loose, so I should do the same. Follow their instructions and it should be fine. They do not tell you the cable loosening secret though in the instructions.

Simple, straightforward breakaway system. I have no fear that this might fail at the moment I need it most, unlike some options that depend on a 12V feed or batteries. Installation was a huge pain, through no fault of this kit -- the car I installed it on, a 2005 Land Rover Range Rover HSE, was a humongous pain in the butt to find the right spot to drill through on the firewall. But eventually I was able to route it (as I said, with quite a lot of effort) very cleanly and mount it under the frame rail just forward of the front left wheel well for easy release should that become necessary.

Kit works for what it was made for.

This braking setup is well engineered and simple, just what you want in an emergency situation. I have no doubt that this will work if ever needed, but since this functionss only if your tow vehicle has gone AWOL I hope I never find out!

This is my 2nd installation, will also be doing my tracker later. This system requires no auxiliary breaking system to work, although we use it with the NSA ReadyBrake system for both vehicles. installation is straightforward but challenging to route the cable in some modern vehicles. My Chevy Colorado required some peculiar gymnastics this old bod has not done in a long time to route it through the firewall. We will use this system on all our vehicles in the future!
