I would like to find a very high smoke point oil.** A: If you are looking for a very high smoke point oil you should consider peanut (450 F) or safflower oil (510 F). Which is better for nutrition wise?** A: Expeller pressed is the traditional method that has been used for extracting oils for thousands of years. Cold pressed is expeller pressed in a controlled climate so that the temperature doesn't rise above 120Β°, or something close to that, depending on the source. It isn't a regulated term in the USA. Expeller pressed does not control what ever heat is generated by the pressure from the pressing.Refined oil, using applied heat and or chemicals, is the type you want to avoid. All of La Tourangelle oils are cold pressed or expeller pressed, with no refining. **Q: Is this free of pesticides? I want to use it for cooking.** A: I don't know if it is pesticide free, but you definitely can use it for cooking. I use mine to make the best mayonnaise. I think mayo made with extra virgin olive oil is too strong; avocado oil gives mayo a light, fresh taste. You may use avocado oil over medium high heat. Smoke point is 375 degrees F.
