Great product
Bought this to watch all the wildlife cruising around our backyard. They work great! The night vision is very clear, the range isn’t as great as advertised but still pretty decent.

Great NV Scvanner - Ability to take photos & Videos a Plus
I am a night hunter - mostly hunt hogs. However, lately with the drought in E. Texas we started having problems with coyotes getting to our sheep. In the period of a week or so we lost 4 lambs. So, I called in some friends and we set up watch schedules thru the nights. While each of us had NV scopes on our rifles it became obvious that we needed a quicker less taxing way to scan the pasture over swinging our rifles every few minutes. So I started looking at NV scanners - I wanted something that wasn't too expensive because I expected my spouse to get me a Thermal scanner for my birthday which is just a few months away. After looking at most on Amazon I narrowed my choice down to two units - the Solomark and the Nightfox units. Well, the Nightfox had the best rating but was out of stock so I chose the Solomark Night Vision Monocular. The Solomark didn't quite have as good a rating 4-star vs 5-star, but after using them I can't understand why anyone would find them not useful or junk as one rater indicated unless they just didn't understand how IR night vision units work. The Solormark unit works great on the darkest of nights as long as you turn on the IR light -7 different levels of intensity. Without the IR on it is pretty much useless on dark nights but it is NOT meant to be used that way. The only three drawbacks that I can find: #1. is the #3 default setting of the "white back-light" - it is too much and causes grainy vision at any distance. Set it to #1 and use the IR light at higher levels and you have good night vision out to 100+ yards. #2. working thru the menu can be a little confusing at first. #3. The IR level cannot be backed down without going all the way thru the 7 settings then back up. An example: you are viewing something out at 65 yards and think w/just a little more IR light you could see it better so you go up one more setting only to find that the setting is too much. Well, you cannot back down just one setting - you have to go completely thru all of the light settings to get back to where you started. All in all - it is a great little device, especially for the night hunter who does not want to use visible red let lights.

Great bit of NV kit for a newbie!
This is my first bit of NV kit, so wasn't really sure what to expect. The monocular arrived on time and well packaged. Unit itself is compact and very light which made me think it might not be very good - however any concerns were unfounded. It comes with a pre-installed 4GB micro-SD card, so just add 4 AA batteries and you're away. Unit comes with a black tough fabric case, a neck strap, couple of connecting cables, lens cleaning cloth and a good set of instructions. All controls are easy to use and importantly - simply laid out so you can work the thing in the dark. Only fiddly control is the eyepiece focus slider, but it works fine and once set (in daylight) you pretty much leave it, so no problem. Can be used in daylight with the lens filter on and IR illuminator off. Gives colour images - looks a bit low resolution, but this isn't really what this thing is for. Using it to look at the garden at night (lens filter off and IR illuminator on) it is much better! Image is grey-scale when using this mode of operation, but seems much better resolved and clear. The IR illuminator is very bright even on the lowest brightness setting - very clear view and easily focus send out to 60-70m at least - easy to pick out and identify small objects out to at least 40m. Photo and video functions work fine, but not yet tried to download to computer. Eyepiece brightness is very high out of the box - but I believe the back-light for the internal screen can be adjusted through the settings menu, so will look at optimising this next. Very impressed with this as a wildlife viewer with lots of other potential uses - not sure how robust this would be for field use or how it will fare longer term, but first impressions are that this is great for the cost (£105 presently). There's obviously much better kit available for more money, but hard to see how you could beat this at this price point. Recommended!
