Lots of useful info
I was hoping for something more beginner-ish. Something I could do while lying in bed maybe. Maybe there’s no such thing with oil pastels. Lots of useful info here. Surfaces and surface prep - acrylic and watercolor wash. (One of the reasons I chose oil pastels was to avoid paints, prep, messes and cleanups. Who knows, maybe these things are unavoidable.).Techniques are covered. The techniques look relatively straightforward. A couple involve solvents and an encaustic iron. Mixed media is covered. Then there are projects. All but one of the projects involve acrylic or watercolor paint. One uses an iron. A few use some type of board for the surface. The one project that is just pastels is an animal portrait which is not something I wanted to try. Mounting and storage covered too.If you’re really into pastels and are have the time, it’s probably a great beginner book for you. If you were looking for a less involved hobby that’s not too much work at the end of the day, this isn’t the right book, keep looking.
