CliffsNotes CBEST: 7th Edition (CliffsTestPrep)

After having failed the CBEST Mathematics portion, I went searching for a good guide that I can rely on. I found this one out of many of the others based on reviews, and a couple of the reviews in particular mentioned how the practice tests in the book was much harder than the actual test itself. I was skeptical at first, but after passing the Math section a second time, I gotta agree with that statement. I was worried because I was having such a hard time getting passing scores on the tests in this book, but I ended up doing so much better than I thought. The sections for Mathematics are very informative and cover a variety of problems you'll encounter on the test. Not only that, but you have 4 Practice Tests to study with, and all the answers go into detail about how to develop the desired formula and solve them. Many online CBESt practice tests, I've noticed, don't offer explanations as to why it's wrong, which is difficult for me because math is my worst subject. But this one does a great job doing so.While I didn't use it for Reading and Writing, since I'd already passed those, those sections are also well put together and detailed in what to expect during the test. And for each section, the book offers plenty of tips and tricks to help you answer the questions during the actual exam. It is a great book to use as a study guide, and I hope it helps others as much as it helped me.

LISTEN TO ME and LET ME HELP YOU PASS! ALERT! THIS BOOK SAVES LIVES! I seriously for lack of a better word, SUCK at taking tests. I am horrible at math and thought I was doomed. After FAILING the CBEST the first time, (mind you I did no studying at all) I thought I would never pass. Its not rocket science material, yet you need to brush up on the topics. I made that mistake. I bought 3 books on amazon this go about.1) This CLIFFNOTES gem,2) CBEST Study Guide 2015: Test Prep and Practice Questions for the CBEST, (which was the first book I studied from. I sincerely did not learn much from this book. It didn't explain anything remotely helping me understand the questions, or how to solve them)3) "Cracking the CBEST" By the Princeton review 3rd edition, (I didn't even bother opening because the cliff notes book helped me so tremendously.)The Cliffnotes book really helped me grasp the math that I had forgotten all those years ago. It goes through each question and shows you how to solve the answer. Trust me. Perfect study guide if you need to pass quickly.*** The great thing about the CBEST test is that they take your best scores of any test and apply it to your most recent score, and boom! I took the first test on the computer and failed. I found the paper test to be more suitable for me.You need to get at least 127 and a minimum of 37 on each subject as long as the score balances out to 127. Hope this helps you guys out there! Product came prefect just as photo. Now to the important stuff: this book definitely was the reason I passed the math section first try. Also for anyone taking the math section I recommend taking it in person as online they don’t allow paper (only a word doc) — they probably said that somewhere before you sign up but I didn’t know so I was very frazzled. Thought I failed cause it was so hard to so simple math on a word doc but I passed still — definitely the book. Haven’t taken the other sections yet but I did look over them in the book and they seem just as helpful. 10/10 recommend!

I found the practice tests to be very helpful to practice pacing myself for the 4 hour timefrane. I liked the varied examples provided to practice writing along with the lined blank paper to write within the book. Math is my weakest area, and the questions were varied and allowed for a good practice. Some of the explanations for solving math problems such as solving for fractions, etc. Could have been broken down into smaller steps to make it more comprehensible. The practice tests in general seemed more difficult than the actual CBEST. Reading is my strongest area, but I still felt very tired after a few practice rounds of the reading section over the course of a few weeks. Based on my experience, if you pass the Cliff's notes practice tests, you will definitely pass the CBEST without any problems. The book was worth the purchase and it helped me prepare.

This is THE BEST CBEST book. Ignore all others and buy it now. It tells you everything you need to pass the test. You will have to carve out time to study and do the practice tests but it is worth it. This book equipped me with all the knowledge I needed. No fluff. I have been out of school for eons and often feel intimidated by standardized tests. I DID WELL!!! Btw, I buy a lot of books and this is my first review, ever. I feel that strongly about this book.

I bought this study guide in order to study for the math portion of the CBEST.I had read reviews on other study guides which complained that the math sections in these other books were much more difficult than the test itself. The best part about THIS book was that the math was right at the level that the test was. The math section did a great job of providing explanation. I passed the math section of the CBEST very easily.This study guide was a great review tool for the math section of the CBEST!The study guide also provides review sections for Reading and Writing- the 2 other sections that the CBEST will test you on. I cannot provide feedback on these sections because I did not look at them.

Needed to take the CBest to upgrade my certification. I wasn't sure if the reviews were accurate....but took the plunge. Honestly it was the best decision I made! Passed my test w/ flying colors and only studied using the book. The practice tests were really all that I needed. Material presented was very similar to the test. Actually the book was harder than the test. Buy it! It will help you.
