Let there be light!
Update 1 year laterExactly one year later, 3 of the bulbs have gone out. That makes them NOT DURABLE as advertised. If it was 1, I would think it's a fluke, but 3??? I still have some of the original incandescent bulbs in the same light fixture that still work, so for an LED bulb to go out like this is very disappointing.UPDATE:Three and a half month later, I still like them! More of my incandescent bulbs have burned out and been replaced. These are still going strong. If you stare at them, it does look like there's a slight variation in color...with some looking a bit more yellowish and some whiter. Doesn't bother me, because I don't stare at my light bulbs and the light overall is great (and so nice to be using less electricity since my children CONSTANTLY leave the light on in the bathroom). I see that these have also dropped in price, which is good because I'm going to need a couple more when my incandescent bulbs completely die.ORIGINAL:I really like these. They fit perfectly and I like having LED lights that will last a long time. In the pic that I posted, these bulbs are the ones that appear fully lit (3 to the right and the 5th from the right). I had some of the older incandescent ones that hadn't burnt out yet, and you can see how much nicer these look. I was a little dubious how something so fragile would be shipped, but no problem at all! They were packed in 2 groups of 3 in plastic shells and cardboard box. The plastic was perfect for packaging the old bulbs for disposal so they wouldn't break in my garbage can.

Better and brighter than the 40W Incandescent bulbs they replaced...
UPDATE 2 Years later: 2 of these bulbs have died... not the lifespan I was expecting for the price point... have some regular incandescent bulbs that have outlasted those 2 by quite a bit for 1/10th the price.... not as pleased as I once was... reducing star rating from 5 down to 3WOW, these are awesome replacements for 40W incandescent bulbs!Disclosure: I purchased these at the normal Amazon pricing with no discount. We have a bathroom vanity lighting strip that takes 8 bulbs... with the 40W incandescent type bulbs, this 8'x12' bathroom would get very, very warm... and those bulbs are too hot to touch within minutes!...These LE 5W LED bulbs put out more light and almost no heat (after being on for an hour they were barely warm)... an amazing difference and well worth the $$.Since they're rated for 50,000 hours - in this bathroom they should last about 60+ years!... long after I'm gone! Great investment.I've added a photo that shows the lightbar from two different angles with 2 remaining 40W incandescent bulbs on the left for comparison to the 6 installed 5W LED bulbs on the right... I eventually removed the 40W bulbs and rearranged the 6 LED bulbs but the room is still brighter with even only 6 LED than it was with 8 40W incandescents!! Be Amazed!

Light works as advertised, until it fails in 1-2 years
I bought these LED light bulbs around 2 years ago (so they're out of warranty now). At the beginning, I was fairly happy with them-- they were bright, and were a good replacement for the old incandescent ones I had. About 6 months ago one of them died, and very quickly 3 more followed-- out of the original 6, only 2 remain, and I wonder how long they are going to last.Knowing about electronics and how LEDs work and how they're driven, I decided to destroy one of the broken ones to see how they're put together and to see if I could repair the LED or the circuit, if it was what burned out. At a glance, the primary problem with these lights is the abysmal heat-sinking they have-- the LEDs are soldered to a plate that is connected to a larger metal heat-sink (with some thermal paste), but then that larger plate is surrounded by a lot of plastic. Even with the tiny holes in the back of the plastic case, the air flow to the heat-sink must be abysmal. As a result, it doesn't surprise me that the LEDs themselves are what is failing-- on most of the dead bulbs, I can easily spot a burned out LED, which is probably breaking the circuit and thus "blowing" the bulb. Another thing that annoys me is that there is flux residue left over from when they soldered the wires to the LED board-- they didn't bother cleaning the board after they finished soldering it together... that's just sloppy. In conclusion, the bulbs will work well for about a year or two, then expect them to die. Workmanship is about what you'd expect for a cheap LED bulb, AKA not all that great. Buyer beware!

Really great lighting. Replaced 6 incandescent bulbs above bathroom sink ...
Really great lighting. Replaced 6 incandescent bulbs above bathroom sink with these and they are listed as equivalent to 40w, but I'd say they were a tad brighter, which we love. With the frosted white globe, we hardly notice a change in the color of the lighting, only just a bit brighter. The only reason these didn't get a 5 star rating from us, is that these came in two boxes of 3 and out of the six total, two are whiter in appearance than the other four, which makes them not look completely uniform. The other four also have writing on the bottom of the globe, whereas the other two don't. Makes the four look like older bulbs, when in fact they are all presumably new.*Update: Bought this set August 27, 2016. Just had one of the bulbs go out July 22, 2019, after just under 3 years. Bulbs were touted as lasting up to 22.5 years.
