Varomorus Stainless Steel Deep Root Feeder for Tree Watering Spike Tool Irrigation for Outdoor Plants System Wand T-Handle One-Piece

After reading other reviews of this product, I decided that this design would be the best, long-lasting and easy-to-use product for giving my distressed shrubs and trees some deep root feeding. I followed the advice of another reviewer and bought a control valve, which was easily added. With the control valve, flow through the tip can be controlled to be just a trickle while plunging the "needle" into the soil, which is often hard and compacted by the time the tree or shrub needs extra watering. The results are great after using this feeder, and the fact it is all stainless steel construction means I will never again have to worry about rust or other corrosion. There was a concern that instead of a sharp "nose cone", the tip is open and the water comes straight out the bottom. In use, this was never a problem. As with the many previous root feeders I have used over the years and eventually discarded, it was always necessary to have some water flow to keep the tip from clogging while inserting to the desired depth. To my pleasant surprise, the Varomorus Root Feeder is very clog-resistant, probably because the opening at the tip is much larger than with the competitor's products (rhymes with "Ross"). As I inspected the construction of this product, the welds are beautifully done, the whole thing has been polished to a brilliant shine, which makes it easy to clean, and the pride in craftmanship is readily apparent. I would happily recommend this item to anyone who prefers buying a well-made product to keep, and not having to go back and replace it after a few years.

Used a few times so far and works great for deep watering our trees after a dry winter. Had no issues connecting to a standard garden hose - there is a nice thick washer inside so just tighten it enough to prevent any dripping or leaks at the hose connection. I like that it is all one piece of metal to push into the soil and it is very sturdy. I insert it into the ground while the water is on so it helps soften the soil and makes it easier to get in.

This is such a nice product that we ordered another one. It goes deep which is good for the trees and you can put it right where you need it. It helps to install a ball valve to it before you attach the hose so you can manage it locally. Tune the valve down until it's sending out very weak streams and it sinks right into the ground with no effort without getting clogged. Also, it's a beautifully finished and assembled piece of work. Proud to see something this nicely thought out and executed made in the USA at a reasonable price.

Works Good But Could Use A Ball Valve On It.

My tree in the front yard was beginning to drop dry leaves several weeks ago after weeks of far-above-average temperatures and sun intensity. Using this deep-watering spike has saved that tree, as I now see new leaves and even flowers popping out from the branches! This spike doesn't have a valve, but I was able to attach a brass ball valve by YELUN to this spike and now have control over water pressure, which makes using this wand for multiple watering points through the yard quite easy (no more spraying my feet with high pressure through the small hole at the end of the spike). Using the spike to get deep into our hard ground took me a few minutes, but now that I've developed a knack for it, doing so is quite easy. I generally rotate the spike slowly left and right while pivoting the spike in a slow semi-circular motion while the water pressure works to dig into the ground. This has allowed me to bury the spike into the ground as deep as the hose attachment for very deep watering. I now use less water to irrigate roots, rather that running off the hard ground into lower areas of the yard. And my tree is evidence this is working great! I even water rose bushes and other plants with this spike. Highly recommend.

... the "nationally known" brand! If you use a root feeder/watering tool and live on hard or rocky soil, THIS is the tool you need! I have used the $oss $oot #eeder for many years with many renditions and have seen their quality and durability decline while the price continues to climb. This device is well built with heavy-duty quality components with impeccable welds. No flexing whatsoever when working it down into the hard rocky soil I have to deal with in the Sierra foothills. With the ongoing lack of rain, I have gone to using one of these to keep my trees alive so I am using it extensively and there is minimal signs of wear on the tip. If there is any shortcoming at all with this tool, it is that there is no integral shut-off valve. Easy fix however - just pick up/order a separate shut-off valve to install between the hose-end and the watering tool. I got an angled shut-off valve to help avoid any stress or kinking where the hose joins the valve. If you are looking to replace an existing feeder or looking to start using one, you need to buy THIS, not THAT. You will not be disappointed!!

Just what my hop seed plants needed. They grew by leaps and bounds the first year watering the roots. Very well made. Built to last.

This is a FABULOUS one piece tool. DON'T purchase the ones that you have to put together because it takes a lot of force to get these into the ground depending on how dry the soil is. Don't order such an item based on the number of likes. Do your investigation and buy one that's quality. This one will never need replacing.

Works amazing. I have pretty heavy clay, looked for a 1 piece shaft and am very happy with it. I was really surprised at how easy it goes in the ground when the water is on, shocked actually. Remember though, everyone has their own strength, so for some it might be difficult. Regardless, great tool! I feel like the pros I see when I’m on site.

Well made, I added a shut off valve as it makes it so much easier to use and you can adjust the flow of water before leaving it to soak in.

Works as advertised, easy to use, added a valve to save time. Fully satisfied.

Place it along the drip line where the roots are thirsty and it is very effective.
