Q: Will this hold both a 13 in macbook air and a 9.7 inch ipad?

Yes it will hold both. I also have small Portable speakers and the chargers. I really like the soft part where the Mac goes.

Q: Does it come with a shoulder strap?

No, there's no shoulder strap!!

Q: Is there an user manual?

For a zipper? The bag had those drying agent packs that said DO NOT EAT. Not sure if that counts. There is a tag with cleaning instructions.

Q: I have a thin cover on my 13" Macbook Pro; will it still fit in this case? Or will it just be super snug?

I have a case on my macbook air 13 in and it fits fine w enough room, should fit fine with yours
