The stand comes with the necessary hex wrench to loosen and tighten to make adjustments. You need to ensure you have it good and snug. The biggest issue is that it won't just easily hold a laptop up in any position - you have to definitely spend some time carefully tweaking it and testing. If you try to go too tall, you will move the center of gravity and it will fall over.That said, it's solidly made, and a good value for the price. Once I got it dialed in, I was able to get my 2016 15" MacBook Pro up to a height where I was no longer cricking my neck to look at the screen while working. So while not 100% perfect, this is a stand I'd highly recommend.

The media could not be loaded.  Needed this to elevate my laptop while I’m working from home in the living room, on the coffee table.Makes for a comfortable experience.This stand is by far the best one I have ever used. I purchased this one after buying and returning one that was about $15 less. This stand is very solid and adjustable. Enough air flow on platform to allow laptop to dissipate heat. Highly recommend!
