Brewcraft Bottling Replacement Spigot for Bucket or valve for BrewDemon kit...
This product works as described - but you do have to pay attention to the installationFollow these tips1. make sure it is for a one inch hole and then inspect hole for any burrs.2. inspect drain cock for any plastic flarings that might remain from factory and remove if necessary3. When you install - leave one washer on the threads and the other washer; place on the inside of bucket "pay attention to the washer"as it is supposed to lay flat against the bucket or other type of container - the washer has a taper to it and the taper should always point to the inside of the container or bucket etc.4. Next hand tighten the nut inside lightly, just enough to hold the spigot in place and then using a small crescent wrench upon the flat sides of the valve and your hand on the inside of the container "bucket etc." tighten the nut until you feel it make a clunk" then give a second clunk" you will feel it do this...this is not rocket science but does require some patience.5. Always before doing anything, like filling check for leaks - to do this, fill container just to point over the valve and let it set for a minute and observe for leaks. If you have any go back to step 4 : if the valve leaks after that it is defective or the hole through the container was greater than one inch or it has plastic burrs on the edge of the hole keeping the spigot valve from seating. Notes:* I used this valve to replace a broken one from a BrewDemon Brewing Kit.valve ..I broke the first one and it was not because of a defect; I just did just not know how to properly install it because I had grabbed by the spigot to tighten and I broke the valve off - so I learned by experience* Have fun AND learn to laugh at Life *

good for what I wanted.
Worked great for my existing bucket. I can now place the spigot where I want it above the trub, and not worry about siphoning

Better than Mr. Beer
I bought this to replace the one I broke in the Mr. Beer kit. I had to file the spigot opening in the keg a little to get it to fit, but this is a much better built spigot than the stock Mr. Beer one. I highly recommend using this one to begin with.

and comes apart for easy cleaning. It will eventually break in the middle
It's a spigot for a bottling/fermentation bucket. It comes with two rubber washers, an articulating valve handle, and the spout is ribbed for your pleasure. It's the same spigot which comes with most kits, and which can be found at most homebrew shops, and comes apart for easy cleaning. It will eventually break in the middle, as the 5 or 6 before this one have, but that's just how these things work.At $6, this is twice as expensive as my local shop, but they were out, so I ordered two of these.

I would also recommend painting the open side of the handle
Remember a bucket is round and the spigot is flat. If your bucket has thin walls, if there thick, you may need another washer. Once its on test it, I would also recommend painting the open side of the handle.

Proper valve for sticking in a bucket.
Put this into a 2 gallon bucket as a drain. 3 minutes and ring of RTV gasket maker and it's doing fine. No leaks.

Huge leak in the side of the unit on the first use
The product arrived with two major defects. First, there was a thin bit of plastic covering the inner part of the ball valve restricting all flow out of the valve. When turning it on it had no flow whatsoever. I used a small thin hook through the large hole to pull it out which fixed the flow problem. Then, with a bucket full of finished beer, the unit spontaneously started gushing liquid out the side. I found a second defect - this time in the front of the valve body (pictured), where a large chunk of plastic came off so my product shot out with force. The poor quality of the product was astounding and infuriating because it nearly ruined my batch of beer. I recommend saving yourself a huge mess and buying a better valve.
