I have been balancing out my calcium/magnesium ratio by doubling the recommended daily dosage
I started taking Magnesium consistently about 5 years ago after acute heart failure. Until then I took it in the evening as assurance to move my bowels the next morning if I was having problems with constipation. So, it was not a consistent supplementation, until I discovered this when I my post operative instructions were to add magnesium supplementation. Magnesium’s benefits can include reduced symptoms from conditions such as chronic pain, fatigue and insomnia. Magnesium may also provide protection from a number of chronic diseases, especially those associated with aging and stress. Recently re-discovered as an overlooked key to good health, a number of medical researchers are recommending increases to the RDA for magnesium — sometimes suggesting as much as double the current recommendations — to ensure protection from diseases such as osteoporosis and hypertension. I now take 800 mg at night with no ill effects of loose bowels and have all but cancelled out my magnesium deficiency. Necessary for good health, and a vital component within our cells, magnesium’s benefits help our bodies maintain balance, avoid illness, perform well under stress, and maintain a general state of good health. I have been buying NOW products from the Health Food store for years as I trust the brand and am happy that is more accessible and economical outside of places like Whole Foods which can get pricey.
