The XMark Olympic Shrug Bar with raised handles is a must for anyone looking to build mass and strength in the traps and legs. The shrug bar with raised handles allows for easier pick up from the ground and reduces the strain on your hands and back as you perform deadlifts, squats, etc. This highly versatile piece of equipment features shoulder width, parallel handles with a non-slip knurled grip. Perform with a greater range of muscle contraction and development with XMark, the mark of excellence.

A good bar but more attention required in quality control
This is a good bar but it had two places where there was sharp slag that should have been ground off before chrome plating. It also developed rust on one end that had to removed with metal polish and must be polished every week since I got it. I didn't know if this bar was actually worth the expense when it was ordered, but it is great for shrugs and I like it for squats due to a shoulder injury that won't allow me to shoulder a standard bar. I also use it for light deadlifts; I don't go heavy anymore so I can't evaluate it for anything over 315lbs.

The bar for above weekend warriors
OK, just going to be a little knit-picky here. On the left side of the sleeve nearest the bar, for the first two inches is smaller round than the rest of the sleeve. My BodyOps collars are slightly sloppy on that side just for that amount. It just makes me wonder about the balance when I start working my way up in weight. However, the bar itself is fantastic. The welds are clean and strong. The handles are perfect. And it came arrived very quickly and wrapped in great shape. Overall I'd give this a 4.75 out of 5.

This bar is a beast.
Great, heavy-duty, solid equipment. Just what I was looking for. I no longer feel comfortable doing squats with a bar on my upper back, and this makes doing deadlifts (and working the legs, of course) very effective. For the first time in decades, I can do negative reps while doing a squat movement when working my legs.Good for shrugs too, of course.

Price matches function
We spent hours looking a good trap bar at a reasonable price. This is the bar we chose and have not been disappointed in the least. Uses in our gym include shrugs, farmer's carries and of course, deadlifts. The weight of the bar is good, at about 25kg, and the chrome finish makes them well worth the extra couple bucks. The only drawback is the length of the bar. If you're using bumper plates or olympic plates, you cannot load much over 400 pounds on the bar. When using steel plates, we've seen pulls of 700+ pounds over and over, and the bars all still look brand new.(We also looked into all of the Cap Barbell variants, and due to their zinc coating that led to many complaints of rusting, we opted to take a chance on XMark and really couldn't be any happier)

Rusted at all contact points
I bought this bar in the past for myself and love it. That being about 5 years ago though. I ordered one for my father and it came rusted at all the contact points and really badly. Love the sturdyness of the bar, just wish they coated it better.Great customer service though. Refunded it

First impression
I just unboxed the bar today but I have not used it.It was 41 lbs. on my scale, which is lighter than I expected. It is evenly balanced side to side and front to back. The knurling is sufficient to give a good grip, but not so deep that it's painful. There is enough room for at least 4 x 45 lbs. Ivanko polyurethane plates & collar per side, but I have not actually loaded the bar to see if a 5th will fit.The chrome finish is not even everywhere, and some of the welds are a little messy but appear to be strong. It appears to be an excellent bar for the price.

Very happy with my XMark bar!
I just got my bar today and wanted to immediately write a review to address problems others have encounted. Ordinarily I don't like seller and shipping comments in a review, but so many buyers noted seller/shipping issues that were helpful to me, I'm sharing why I chose XMark.I first considered the bar by Cap, but both price and quality came into play:Price: When first shopping, Xmark was $54 higher than Cap. With a baseline, I searched the resale market for several months. No bar. When ready to order, Cap's price was up and the difference was only $15. A few days later, Cap went down $25. A few days later, Cap went up $30. According to the camel site, prices on both fluctuate, but I've notice no more than a $7 change for XMark vs $40 for Cap. So whatever bar you buy, follow the price and try to buy low.Quality: On the Cap bars, there are multiple complaints of the zinc coating peeling. I might have taken the chance for the $50 difference, but not for $15. Just not worth it. The XMark bar is nice and shiny chrome. No peeling zinc concerns here. The weld is pretty good, much neater than I've seen on many products, where it looks likes the welding was done in high school metal shop.Shipping: I found the XMark bar on Ebay for $7 less with free shipping, but with multiple complaints about damage via shipping due to poor packing, I chose to buy via Amazon. I figured if there were an issue with damage, I'd rather deal with Amazon to make it right. Packing was excellent! The bar itself was wrapped and taped in plastic, then covered in cardboard, including the raised handles, and tied shut. And then it was placed in another box. There was no way the bar could move. Most other sellers of hex bars charge outrageous shipping; understandable, as this is a 50lb item, but high shipping charges very quickly change the playing field. I ordered mine very late Sun nite, selected Super Saver shipping, and my bar was at my door Friday afternoon. That's almost as good as Prime.Length: I find no concerns here. One reviewer noted the weight placement is only 9 7/8 inches. My bar measures 10 5/8 inches, quite a bit longer. This is enough for five 45lb plates on each side + collar. With the bar, that's 500lbs! How many people are going to deadlift or shrug that much? Unless you're a meathead, this bar should be more than enough for most users. And lastly, I wanted a bar with double handles, not just regular, not just raised. I noticed there are dual handles on the bars at the gym. Watching one of the low body fat muscular trainers, he places it raised handles side down. I figured having both would be more versatile. So considering all those aspects, XMark was the only choice. The best quality+price option. No other quality bar at this price point. After unpacking, I loaded it up for a test drive. Shrugs are far more comfortable, no uncomfortable body rub as with a straight bar. And the shrug bar completely removes the lower back out of the equation. Bending and lifting with your legs, you feel nothing whatsoever in your back. I also purchased a pair of stands. You don't really need the stands; I just didn't want my weights resting on concrete, which promotes rust. It does look nice with the stands, but a heavy duty mat will do, and I didn't keep the stands.Don't forget to order a pair of collars, as the bar does not come with them.So I got mine, and I'm very pleased. I'll be using it twice a week. If I encounter any issues, I'll update this review.

Love this trap bar
Love this trap bar. Great bar for the price. Very versatile can be used for deadlift shrugs calf raises and even flip it for shoulder presses. Bar is more compact than expected but for me it's a good thing if limited space is factor. Sleeves are also on the shorter side so if you progress to over 500lbs this bar will not accommodate you. You will definitely pull more weight with this bar versus standard barbell deadlift due to leverage. Also this bar is not rackable so if racking it for heavy pulls shrugs or presses then look for one that's rackable. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend it.

Worth every penny
Device is made of excellent materials. It can easily hold an excess of 500lbs, thus more than 5 plates a side with a collar. I use it primarily for hex squats, due to its high load capacity. The hand grips on the device is threaded nicely enough to enhance your grip without the need for straps or chalk while not being so extreme that it hurts to grip it with heavy weight. I highly recommend this device.

Timely delivery, product as pictured. I am really enjoying this bar as it has allowed me to add some more variety to my workouts. There are a couple of minor blemishes in the finish, but nothing serious. A solid bar for the price. I find the knurling to be fairly aggressive, especially considering most lifts with this bar are done with heavy loads.
