with no software?
It took longer to setup then expected, having no software you got to search for it, downloaded and hope that will make things easy, wrong setup with a Mac is not easy, good luck hopefully it is easier with a Windows PC

Does not work with Windows 7
This device does not work with Windows 7. It does not automatically install itself, as claimed. Installing the driver from the manufacturer's website, because one is not included, appears to work. When you go to enroll your fingers, a .net runtime error appears. I attempted this on a different PC and received the same error. I then installed their Protector Suite application. It produced a "Browser too new" error message on Firefox 15.This product is a joke, and support is nonexistent currently.

Working
Its working great, better than remembering numerous passwords. Software can be downloaded from authentec website or on the pirate bay by simply searching protector suite.

Works great on OSX 10.7 Lion
I already owned their mini product for my laptop and liked it so much I wanted to get the same for my desktop Mac. This little gadget has a long enough cord and a non-skid base. You can download the free software for Mac on the manufacturer's web site. The software is very well done and integrates extremely well with OSX: once you have registered your prints, you can automatically authenticate from just a finger scan at the login screen, and whenever one of those pesky programs ask you for an administrator password, you can just scan that finger again. The software also allows for assigning extra functions to other fingers, which can be a fairly useful feature.A very inexpensive and surprisingly convenient little gadget, and the software is excellent. Great value.Note that if you're using a laptop you should consider the Eikon Mini instead (be warned that prices fluctuate considerably)Highly recommended.

Foolish Purchase
I bought one even though I thought $20 seemed cheap. I got what I paid for. The device is so intermittent as to render it pretty much useless. Despite much time spent trying to learn - by trial and error - how to operate it, the device would only occasionally function as promised.I am now researching other products. I suggest you do same.

Do not purchase for OS X systems! Fail
Does not seem to work on Mac OS X, probably requires drivers. No company support. Do not purchase if you wish to use on OS X systems.

It Was Good
I had to return this item because it didn't work with Windows 7. Or rather, it did, but it didn't unlock the computer. Its good if you have XP i suppose.

works great
if your looking for a cheap fingerprint scanner for biometric time punch/PC automated log in, works great with windows 7, as will natively install and assist in configuring automated log-ins (Will not log website log-ins without additional management software, if which you need i suggest purchasing a full package rather than the stand alone unit). not sure what other people were complaining about perhaps they are not familiar with PC's very much, or just got a defective unit. Either way product works great
