A great read for the beginner to running
I really enjoyed reading this book. I initially bought it for my partner who wanted to start running but I found myself enjoying so much I bought a pair of trainers and started running myself. I really liked the info provided on things I didn't even realise running did for you. A thoroughly great read for the beginner!

Good motivational guide!
I love running. It is the second most effective exercise when it comes to burning calories. And especially after a run, you just feel great. I found this book very motivating. Author starts with benefits of running so the book has kind of informative or motivating start. And then he explain few tips and techniques that can actually help you run a bit more. And in the end what foods you should eat before or after running. Although it’s a short guide but it’s very precise. Anyone who is looking to get into running would benefit from this quick read.

Great Beginners Guide To Running
This a great guide for anyone wanting to start running from scratch. I thoroughly enjoyed Colin's first book on Parenting, so I bought this copy for my partner who likes the idea of running, but has never tried doing it consistently.I like Colin's writing style. It's easy to follow yet informative enough to take something away from it. My partner clearly agreed as she went out for a run the following morning!I wouldn't suggest buying this book if you're a seasoned runner. This book is ideal for people that are interested in keeping fit, losing weight and taking up a simple hobby. If your expectations are set to this level, it's a great read!

Very basic
I didn't really learn anything. It was a good effort but also suffered from quite a few spelling mistakes. If it hadn't been for that, then I would've given it a 4 star rating

Very Disappointing
I bought thus due to the good reviews, but have been very disappointed. The book to a grand total of ten minutes to read cover to cover. It is very American (sneakers, bagels etc) and very badly written, for example "This snack has carbs, protein and don't take much effort to be digested." I have just finished an eight week 5K programme, so was shocked to see him suggest that a non-runners very first run should be two to four miles non-stop, which surely would be at best demotivational for those that don't manage it, and at worst cause injuries to those not fit enough but determinedAs a beginner starting to enjoy running and wanting to get it right, I wanted a book which would explain the terms I keep finding on running forums - cross-training, foam rolling, zones one and two etc which I do not yet understand. This book explained nothing and I have learnt nothing from it. I am very disappointed and do. It recommend it.

Extremely short and very disappointing
Only 28 pages.Spelling mistakes and typos.Poor quality printing.Astoundingly unhelpful and disappointing.Book could have been written in 1-2 hours max.Suggestions to improve would be to include some training plan suggestions or recommendations on how to structure a run e.g. intervals, Kenyan hills, Fartlek, negative split. Maybe also include some pictures to help demonstrate explanations e.g. dynamic stretching or gait.In short, the title does say ‘for beginners’ but this is beyond basic and brief. Total waste of £6.

Read this book today, run today!
Running for Beginners is a great book for anyone that would like to start a running routine but feels overwhelmed. Even though running as an exercise choice has become more popular there are so many different trails, clothing choices, shoes, etc. that it can easily seem like too much for a beginner to handle. I felt that way and instead of just trying something out I caught myself procrastinating and not running at all. This book had some great points and even included a section about how to choose the basic items necessary and how to stay safe while running. I never considered the point about keeping music low and always thought I would blast something motivational to run to. The author made a great point about how that was an unsafe choice and music should be kept at a level where you can still be aware of your surroundings. I would definitely recommend this book to others that are curious about how to start running today.
