COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD IT WORKED
So, during these trying Covid-19 times, with all of the salons being closed naturally those of us who are more 'distinguished' than others need to improvise. I have tried the sprays before and hate the way they weigh down my hair and leave it with an almost greasy look. So I decided to try a powder cover up with not much expectation for it to work. THIS ONE IS THE WAY TO GO. Not only did it instantly work, but my hair didn't look plastered to my head like the sprays do. I think that this half light half dark tone really helps to blend in for the most realistic natural look I've ever seen. PICK THIS ONE

Great for small areas of gray
I was happy to find this on Amazon, as I cannot find it in stores near me anymore. The colors in the chestnut to espresso are perfect when blended to cover my 2020-quarantine roots. This really doesn't transfer easily, but I always "set" it with a spritz of light make-up setting spray just in case. I've used almost every spray, stick, etc., that you can buy and this formula is the best for targeting my small areas of gray. There is another popular brand sold in a compact similar to this, but Frieda's texture is better, in my opinion. Be warned, it can get messy like eye shadow if you don't keep the compact neat when using.

Works to cover roots in a pinch but there's so little powder in the compact!
My Holy Grail of powder root cover, Art Naturals Root Cover Up, was discontinued and I went back to sticks and sprays which were not nearly as effective. I saw this powder and the reviews were good so I gave it a try. I got the darkest brown shade. There is so little powder in the compact! The compact lis a good size but the powder is not. Still it has two shades to combine or use separately to get the right color and a nice brush to apply the powder. Also the compact is mirrored for on the go concealing. This isn't as pigmented as my discontinued HG but it works. I have about 65-70% grey mixed with very dark brown roots. My hair color is a slightly lighter shade of brown right now than my original color. This powder matches well and does cover the grey. It takes a couple of layers but, once it is on, it stays on and doesn't fade away quickly and also doesn't come off on my hands or on the backs of chairs when I rest my head on them. I see nothing on my pillow cases either. It is great in a pinch and easy to throw in my purse. The powder is tightly packed so there isn't a lot of loose stuff falling all over. It's good.but for the price, they could afford to give us a little more product. It is only powder after all!

Magic
I did A LOT of research before venturing in this area. Sprays scared me and I really thought that powder was basically repackaged eyeshadow. BUT the white peeking out at my temples couldn't be tolerated. I'm familiar with John Frieda's brunette line in other ways (conditioner, glaze) so I know that they have a clue. I can't tell you how pleasantly surprised I was that this actually worked. The big reveal is that is it's not eyeshadow but something that actually clings to hair without looking fake. The win is that it's a blend of light and dark brown, which has a more realistic look. This legit extends my time between coloring and I'm convinced.

Easy to use and works well!
I have tried many root coverups and this is the only one that is easy to use and works well. My hair started turning gray at 13 so I have had decades of experience with gray hair. This one covers with a little brush and stays on until you wash it out. I truly recommend this easy and temporary root coverup. Use in the part and areas that show. It is not meant for your entire head!

Root Blur is OK, but NOT my favorite due to all the WASTE.
I went out on a limb when I purchased this product. I don't like buying something I can't see/touch first, but I went ahead anyway and I was pleased for the most part. The colors are very true to the colors on the screen. The brush is nice. But I feel like a lot of the product is wasted because it doesn't stay on the brush. I don't know if I should dampen the brush first or what, but when I very gently glide the brush across the color, I feel like most of the color just stays on the palette. And when using the product, it seems to fall all over my forehead/face. Obviously some of the color stays on the brush because I can see it covering my lighter hairs, but it's definitely not a 1 or 2 sweet of the brush and your done. I think some of the "spray-on" touch up hair colors are better and faster and the product isn't wasted. If I could find a way to keep the product on the brush itself, I think it would be a much better product. Also, once you've used enough color to make a "hole" in the bottom of the tray, the product then seems to "break up" very quickly, also creating a mess and wasting the product. It's not like you can keep it in your purse unless you put it in a Ziplock bag or something. Typically, I love John Frieda products and I had high hopes for this one, but I'm not sure I would keep purchasing it unless they fix some of the issues with it.

Bad Product!
You get what you pay for..I've tried two competing products which were very good, but expensive. This one was half the price of the others, so I tried it. As soon as I opened the compact, loose powder poured out. It is sold in cake form, but acts like loose powder. The powder went onto my clothes, the sink and the counter. It continued to flake as I used it. The colors are matte finish, so your hair does not shine on the areas of use. If your hands are the least bit damp when you touch your hairline, you will distribute the dark color onto your hands and your face! If you don't realize this, you will transfer the powder from your hands to your clothes. The pillowcase will also show dark powder in the morning. A baaaaddddd product.

Easy to apply - Great coverage
My entire head is grey but I'm not ready to rock a grey head of hair yet. I color my hair every 3 - 4 weeks but, in between, I use this powder to camouflage my grey hair in my part and around my hairline. I have used just about every product out there and I am most happy with this product. It's simple to apply and it doesn't really fade out. Unlike the wet applicators, this is not messy and it looks very natural. The coverage is very good.
