Good idea needs work
Let me start by saying although this book has issues the underlying story is strong enough that I will continue to book 2.This book is a little juvenile. I don't mean the characters, other than when they are speaking they are pretty normal teenagers the writing itself is a little underdeveloped. You can tell the author is. Can of the paranormal, rh, orphan girl is sent to new rich family after years of abuse where the family spoils her and teachers her nice things can happen while her would be love is a jerk. That's fine. I'm a fan too. That's why I picked up this book. Unfortunately because the writing isn't the strongest there are times boxes are definitely just checked for these plot points. You also get told things are happening rather than led through the story as the character experience it. It's had to get lost in the story when it isn't being painted for you. The dialog needs a lot of work. It kind of reads like a 90s computer. Harper needs to remember it is teens, or a 333 year old vampire talking. The speech patterns should reflect this. Teens use contractions, slang, and run on sentences. There is good chunk of character relationship development that is skipped. It goes from I hate you to you got me I've cream I forgive your literal torture now. Hmmmm sorry, a few steps were skipped there. We also never get to know what the universe of this paranormal world.looks like. Do they have one large governing body? Who else is real? Does she have to listen to them? The story switches view points each chapter so the reader can get this important world establishing information even if Lexi doesn't. Oh, and we get it. Lexi has her period. Tell if about it for ten chapters is weird. And did you have to make her a cliche for all things periods?I do have a real problem that the book repeatedly says if a hot guy.like you should this all of your life plans away to be with him in his small rural town. Go away to college? Oh no. If you lived him you would give up that life long dream. You can just go to a cut rare.online school same diff as four years in college followed by that grad program. You never give up your plans for a guy. If they love you they won't let you. If they ask you know they are wrong for you and you walk away. The fact that this book is supposed to be based on this strong female heroine but this is the message that is repeatedly put forward about giving it all.up for a guy is so disappointing

BELLE HARPER BEATS MEYERS AND HARRIS WITH TWICE BITTEN!!!
Oh my gosh I felt like i just read a cross between Twilight and True Blood only freaking better. Yes I said better than Meyers and Harris. I mean you through in the whole why choose element and you are definitely have the best book in the world. So if you love Twilight and True Blood, then you will freaking love this book. So once I started reading the book, I was immediately sucked into the town of Kiba. Why was I so invested in this book? Alexis, Rafferty, Ranger, Maverick and Galen. I mean you have a couple of troubled teens trying to make their situation as best as they could. So when Alexis is sent to Kiba, she is not thrilled and tries to get away but some people are super fast?! So one day her world just gets crazy and she is trying to figure out what her next move is. She didn't not plan on actually caring about people around her. At the same time she is told that there is something about her that attracts the supernatural beings to her. She is an anomaly. Will she find out what she is? What is going to happen? Ahh and that ending , WTF!!! I am not sure I can wait til the next book comes out. This book is so good!! Don't miss out on this.

Great read!
Loved the storyline and the characters. I'm a sucker for stories that have FMC who have survived abuse and/or homelessness and end up with guys who would do anything for her. Lexie went from surviving to be overwhelmed with a world she knew nothing about, learning how to care for someone, to trust, to belong without strings. I fell in love with Rafe and for a while I was so angry at the way the new pack was treating him. But Lexie was his saving grace and the story took off from there. It's a great read and one I highly recommend. For me, I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait for #2 to be released. Well done, Belle Harper, well done!

Basic
This story is about a girl- Lexi- who is a foster kid. She's sent to live with a family and goes to school only to find that all these guys show her interest. She soon learns the town is full of shifters and there's something about her that attracts them. If you're hoping to find out what's so special about her in book one you'll be disappointed. We never find out. The writing is very very basic. There are hardly any descriptions about the characters, other than the guys are hot, and she doesn't describe the scenery. There were also A LOT of typos or missing words. Also, all of the character's voices sound the same. They basically all act and talk the same, even the 300 year old vampire. Also, it seems like all the guys are bi, which is just gross to me. It would have been fine if it were one character, but almost all the guys? Other than her smell attracting the guys, I couldn't figure out why they all liked her so much as there wasn't any character development. I could understand Raff and Lexi's connection because they both had hard lives, but the other guys? Lexi didn't share anything with them other than attraction, and that's not love. The book was just very immature in the writing and thinking. I'm giving it 3 stars because I was able to finish it.

That ending!
This book just pulled me in! I didn't want to do anything but read it. I loved the characters and the world building. I now feel vested it what happens to these characters. I can't wait until the next book.

Not a 5 star read today, sorry
This book, indeed all 3 of the books in the series, are written in a rather juvenile language and the author is desperately in need of a good editor. Just about every single page is littered with typos, missing words and incorrect usage of terms (to/too, their/there, scared/sacred, intimate/intimidate) which I find very distracting and loses one full star from my rating. In one sentence the main character will say something, then repeat it unnecessarily in the next sentence. The different chapter POVs from the guys just show them all to be the same guy with usually one different characteristic and make them seem rather wooden. Another star removed. The bedroom scenes read more like young adult even though the characters acted older. The supposed MM themes were just that, some kisses and groping and could have been developed further, but this series really does not work on development at all.The general story was interesting and that's what kept my attention and is deserved of the 3 stars.I think with better editting this story could have crept up to about 4.5 stars. I sincerely hope the author does find one and soon. I don't have editting skills nor can I write fiction but I would have done a better job at fixing the typos.

Could be more
Even though I'm only half way through I am disappointed I'm afraid. I wanted it to be so much more, it jumps around too much and the writing doesn't flow. The main characters aren't consistent and feel no more connected or understanding of them then when they were introduced. I am committed to finish reading it though as I always like to give a book a thorough read but I find myself loosing interest quite quickly. I think with some good proof reading/editing team the writer could do well.

Addictive
I must say I have read this book a few times now and every time it’s just as addictive. It is an easy read whilst still having a complex and intriguing plot that took me on a rollercoaster of emotions.I loved the main character and her tenacity and strength that is shown through out the book whilst still creating a believable teenage character. As one of my favourite genres but also one I find can be very hit and miss this was defiantly a hit. Despite the large number of characters each one was developed and had a depth to them that made the relatable and easy to forge a connection with.Would recommend this book especially if you are looking for some easy reading. Be warned there is a cliffhanger and if I were you I would wait for the second book to be out because you will be chomping at the bit to find out what happened next.

Great read
This sorry is fantastic. Got to know each character. It’s Drew you in to the story and to know their backgrounds. The only bad thing about this book, it ends on a cliffhanger and now I have to wait for Book two.
