Not a bit unless you brush hard on your hand.Scrape gently and the scales will fall off but would not damage the skin of the fish.This scaler is very easy to use.

Can i ise this on trout?

depends what trout. most species are soft so you would have to use a delicate hand with this as its pretty sharp. it will cut thru the skin if your not careful.
