Just what I thought it would be!

Followed instructions; got it working. Except you can't access it via the app 90% of the time and it constantly says "doorbell ready for use" then 30 seconds later says "thanks for checking but firmware is up to date" and the chime in my home rings. ALL hours of the day AND night; literally every 10 to 15 minutes when its on a roll.. When you go to physically ring the doorbell it doesn't react so it doesn't even ring. When you access the app it triggers the doorbell to speak.Customer service said to uninstall it and reinstall it... that only made it worse and more frequent. We reversed the wires, checked the circuit, had the internet tech come out to verify consistent service, and it boils down to either a faulty unit or a sucky product....I only bought night owl because I have their cameras on an 8 channel device and have a 9 channel display and was told I could get the doorbell to occupy the 9th screen.... thats a joke as the two won't acknowledge the other. Might need to consider a whole new security system that BEGINS with a doorbell in the base package. And it surely won't be night owl

Bought this for my mother-in-law to add a little more security without her having to open doors. After having read the reviews, I decided to pull trigger on it. Received it and downloaded app on her phone. There is no user manual in box, as you have to log online to the NO support webpage. The videos are great, but I still had a difficult time pairing. Don't know if it was the internet here or what, but after a couple of hours, it paired. Installation was super easy. I love love this. Once we played around with the app, we tested it out. Video is a little laggy, but love the wide angle view and the night vision feature. And my MIL likes it, I guess. Hard to tell with her... but I love it and tried to purchase 2 more, but see they are now sold out. Hope they will be restocked soon!

This is a very sturdy camer,a and the picture is excellent, but it is very slow to react to motion unless someone comes right up on the camera. Most of the time, by the time I see the action it has already long ended. There is about a 13 second delay from motion to actually seeing it (in live view). The older one I have only has about a 2 second delay at most and catches motion from a further distance.

I purchased this doorbell and installed it following the instructions. However, my mechanical doorbell would constantly hum and have random dings. I even upgraded my doorbell transformer to the specs outlined in the installation instructions. I added a resistor on the chime, which helped; however, I have this connected to a DVR and evetime it detected motion and saved the clip to the DVR, my chime would ding and the doorbell would reset because the resistor caused too great a drop in power for this action. Night Owl customer service provided no resolutions, except advising to disconnected from my DVR. I ended up switching to a digital chime with the pre-amp sold by Night Owl. Now that I have the new digital chime and pre-amp installed, works great with my Night Owl DVR. If I didn't already have a compatible Night Owl DVR, I may have just returned it given the issues I had with it. Aside from the power issues with the mechanical chime, its a good video doorbell.

Dont buy any NightOwl product. I understand that a product can damage, nothing is perfect, but then is when the money you paid will be supported by a responsible and professional good brand, that will honor and resolve the issue. In this case NightOwl is terrible to provide support, to take care of customer. The warranty department is unresponsive. My Doorbell camera stopped working within the year and is still under warranty and it is been a week with no reply. I contacted NightOwl to ask for a supervisor and the customer agent refused to do it. I should kept my simplisafe system!

I would suggest looking at another brands. Our WIFI is fine and located 10 feet from the router but the doorbell only connects periodically. Also, does not work with existing doorbell chime. They recommend I buy an adapter for the chime but that part didn't work.NightOwl will not support non authorized resellers products.So now I have a useless doorbell and very unhappy.I just purchased a Ring Doorbell 4. It installed and configured in minutes. During setup it configured the existing chime. The camera is much better the the NightOwl.Go with the Ring.

This works great and was easy to install. Everything I was hoping for. Great price and American made!
