Know what you are doing if you plan on purchasing this
Edit: This is now a review. I received and tested it and it does indeed work. I tested it with my homemade app out to about 8-10 feet. HOWEVER you do have to be precise about aiming, as expected for such small IR leds. For funsies I installed the zaza remote app, and of course it doesn't work. The zaza app is for usb ir adaptors, they probably got fed up with companies like yosoo (yousoo?) making the hardware and leaving them with all the software complaints when they didn't even make a sale.So for all the people out there: this product does work, but its not plug and play, or plug and download an app. If you are looking to do what I did, the LIRC remote database is free and open source. The fantastic software that I used to transform the remotes from LIRC to wav files is called IRScrutinizer and it is also free and open source.Once you have the audio all you need to do is play it for the IR code to be be sent (eg play the power.wav for the power code). I got fancy and went a step further and created a simple audio play app, that binds the named wav files to buttons, with a listpicker to get the user's input (eg Samsung, Sony, etc). Its actually not as hard as it sounds. This is not a review (yet), I am waiting to receive the item. I wanted to take a minute to address some of the other reviews though. There are a number of reasons the product may "not work" as some of the reviews state and it is more complex than you might expect, and through no fault of this product.1. Your phone may not support stereo, which is needed for this device.2. The device may not work.3. The app may not have the right codes for your specific tv.4. The app didn't encode correctly. For those of you that aren't familiar, specially encoded sounds flash the ir at specific intervals with specific patterns, which tells the tv what to do. That's the basic concept behind this device.I built something similar to this may years ago (see picture) and encoded my own remotes as wav files via the LIRC (Linux Infrared Remote Control) remote database. It worked just fine with a range of about 10 feet. Given the smaller size of the Yosoo device, I am hoping it can get that... But you really cant fault it if it cant, power output from a headphone jack is small.I am purchasing this as a low profile version of what I built so long ago. I have already built my own app with hooks for the wav files I will be once again building with the LIRC database. Plus who knows what extra code this random zaza app contains, and developing an app for this is fairly simple. It took me about 30 min today. I feel like I should be able to provide an informed review given my experience, once I receive this device.A side note for the review saying he had to get an ir camera to check the device.....most camera's don't have ir filters and will pick up the flashes. Just open your camera app on most any phone and you should be able to see the flashes if there are any.So I will be back to update this with my findings.

I recommend something better
The range of this is pretty bad(only around 1ft), and you can't really turn it(literally) on if you have a case covering your phone. I'd suggest spending the few extra dollars for a physical universal remote, or a transmitter with it's own electronic booster included(this one relies on the phone's audio system). But, for a quick fix this will work. I have a TV that bugs out randomly after a few months, and you can't access the menu to reset it without a remote(which we lost). For this situation it works wonderfully, but not if you plan on sitting down on the couch and controlling it from there.

Rad, you never knew you needed something until you use it than loose it, I’m ordering another
Not sure why I haven’t searched for this item sooner. A must have in your dongle collection. Totally came earlier than expected. “Envelope” was easy to open and altogether packaged well and with fragility in mind. Also came with its own case for storage and what seems to be an attachment for easy transportation, or a way to NOT loose the little thing. As it is “as expected” ver very small and easy to loose. Getting your devices to sync can be a bit tasking but online support for this is great, so don’t get discouraged. If it even works for one device in the upcoming future, it will be worth it. As far as the vendor goes FIVE STATS! I will be a repeat customer.Warning if you have a Bluetooth earpiece paired: THIS WILL TURN YOUR COLUME TO 100%. Just a FYI

Novel idea, but intermittent at best
I love the idea of this product, but it just doesn't deliver with any consistency. It's hard to turn it so that it's in the off or on position. Sometimes it will be on, and light up, but doesn't function, doesn't emit or blink. Overall, don't waste you time and money on this IR emitter, buy one that plugs into your lightning or micro usb port.

doesn't work. don't bother.
It was detected by the ZaZaRemote App but was not able to control anything. Futhermore, the app is written in bad Engrish so it takes a while to figure out what it is you're supposed to do to even configure it. If it was more than $7 I'd probably return it but it's not worth the hassle and I knew I was gambling and it probably wasn't going to work when I purchased it.I guess I'm going to have to figure out something else to replace my phone's IR blaster.

Three Stars
Range wasn't as far as expected, but that might be a problem with what I was controlling
