Q: what tool for screws? Our allen wrench fits it until there is resistance and then it spins in place. Is there a different tool supposed to be used?

Is it your wrench spinning after "resistance" or is the screw, etc. spinning after resistance? If the Former you have the wrong wrench size. If the Latter you may have stripped the female (plastic?) end. There may also be a slight mis-alignment with the pins that secure the ends of the arms, or the pins themselves may be slightly bent. I've encountered both of these last scenarios.

Q: Will this fit the 2wd stampede ?

I do not see why it wouldn't... The frame/cradle for the2 wheel and 4 wheel are the same.. with the diffrance being the over all mechanics
