Great but little bit of residue
I’ll start with the likes. The smell is really nice and sticks around after you’d added it to your container and have used it for a while. I really like being able to make lotion with no plastic waste and put it into any container I choose. Now for the dislike. As with any bar of soap, it feels like there’s a slight sticky residue on my skin after I apply the lotion. I had added a little extra water and that helped. But the residue is still there.I like it a lot though! I’ll definitely use it all up. But I still prefer lotion that comes in plastic containers.

Plastic free alternative!
I've been using Ethique shampoo/conditioner for almost a year and was excited when this new line of concentrates was announced! I've been using for a couple of weeks now and really like product! It was fun and quick to whip up and I used an old lotion pump. I have sensitive skin and have had no trouble with the fragrance free version. There is a very slight smell of the ingredients but it dissipates quickly and doesn't bother my overly sensitive nose. Really happy that Ethique makes it easy to reduce my plastic use without sacrificing quality hair and skin care!

Great consistency and no plastic waste, but does have a strong scent
I love this company so much because of their ability to sell a product I need without creating plastic waste! I love the conditioner and shampoo bars and was excited to try the lotion! It was easy to mix up by pouring boiling water in a container and breaking up the stick into the smaller pieces so it could melt. I stirred it mix and let it cool. I realize now that I could have stirred or shaken the jar a little more vigorously as there are some bigger pieces of lotion in my container, but it doesn’t affect how it smoothed into my skin.I do think the thickness and moisturizing level of the lotion is great. Much like the lotion I used to buy in a jar. There is a slight residue feeling but I think I may need to add slightly more water. It’s not a deal breaker for me. I always put on lotion after showering because my skin gets itchy. This lotion adequately moisturizes my skin.I do think the scent is a little strong. I got the Zest scent, and really do like the freshness of it. My husband likes it too as it’s not floral. It just is a little intense. If you are scent sensitive, you may not like it. I don’t think the fragrance lasts too long on your body afterwards.Overall I would purchase it again because I am committed to reducing my plastic waste and I like the ease of making it at home. It’s much easier for me to apply than the lotion bars. There are some things that aren’t exactly the same as my favorite lotion from Trader Joe’s but I am willing to overlook those minor things to reduce my waste and environmental footprint.

Wanted so badly to love it...and I do!
We are on a quest to eliminate as much single-use plastic as possible from our lives. Lotion was something that had eluded me up until this point. I'd tried bars that you rub on you (they can work, but it's not that pleasant of an experience and you go through them very quickly) and a Nivea lotion in a tin (I don't mind it too much, but never loved it). This took a bit of stirring to get the chunks to dissolve, but once they did it set up so nicely in the mason jar pump I bought to use with it. The smell is very strong, but that appears to go away after it soaks in (I asked my husband and son and neither report a stronger lemon-citrus smell the last few days). There is a slight stickiness as it soaks in (which happens quickly), but once it does there is no residue on the skin. My skin is much more moisturized than it was with the tin lotion. I'm very happy with the product and I certainly intend to purchase it many more times.

Love love love
I love this lotion! It's so fun to make, fills my favorite pink bottle, and provides 24 hour moisture better than some hand creams! My skin has never felt so smooth. Feels great to use something that reduces my carbon footprint!

Great product and great for the environment
I was so excited when Ethique branched out into concentrated. I was doubly excited when their lotion came in a fragrance free version since I have skin allergies. I made the lotion in a bottle I already have and it works wonderfully. I’ve been using it regularly and hydrates my skin so well. I would add slightly less water next time so it can be thicker. However that’s one of the great benefits of the concentrates in that I can adjust to my liking.

Great Product; OK Scent
Like others have mentioned, I had a little difficulty getting the bar to melt, but once it melted and cooled in the bottle, it thickened up nicely. A small amount, about the size of a pencil eraser, is plenty for my hands. The smell is a little medicinal for my taste, though, so I'll try the lavender next. I wish they offered it in their orange vanilla scent.

Have to mix yourself
Didn’t realize this wasn’t already a made up lotion so ended up sending it back because I didn’t have a jar to use that’s why I gave 3 stsrs
