Sorry to say, it isn't nearly as good as my old panasonic that finally wore out. It was easy enough to set up even though directions were on one large sheet with many folds, so it was hard to locate specific directions. The biggest disappointment is that the screen is SMALL and on dim side. Almost impossible to read most of the time. May be OK for younger people with better eyesight--definitely not for seniors. The voice quality is also little tinny. But, It wasn't too expensive and it was on sale after Thanksgiving. So far it works as a landline, but I tend to be old school and depend on a landline more than most. I will probably use it for awhile, then toss it.

I purchased this product when my old system failed, and have been using it for a few months with absolutely no problems. One thing I must say is to READ the complete instruction sheet (which is NOT enclosed with the phone ) which can be downloaded for free on line. The website is enclosed in the box with the basic instruction set up sheet. I believe you will become very aggravated if you try to set up the phone with the enclosed "quick" guide instruction sheet. This system gives you plenty of features for the selling price. There are a few drawbacks which are really minor to me. The letters and numbers on the screen are pretty small and the caller ID does NOT make an announcement. It just shows up on the phone screen and your smart tv screen if you own one. The other features allow you to set up how many rings before the answering machine picks up, easily change the volume on the hand piece(s), allow you to choose either the preinstalled voice mail announcement, OR lets you change the announcement to you own voice and your own personal message. You also have the ability to change the installed ring tone to one of six other ring tones that are factory installed. You do NOT have to sync multiple hand pieces when the system is purchased as a compete factory package. My opinion is that you get a lot of bang for the buck if you purchase this system. Again, the main point is to go on line and download the COMPLETE instructions which breaks down step by step with clear drawings how to use and change ALL the features in this phone. system. The reason I did not give this 5 stars is because my favorite features on the older version have been removed. I've been using them for almost a decade and I just upgrade to the newer model every few years. One feature that has been removed is the older models intercom had two options. One option was you could call another phone and it will ring in that room and the person has to actually answer, the other option is you can just speak out loud into the other room like a typical intercom. The second option is Extremely helpful when someone needs instructions (without holding the phone and having to get to it and Actually pick it up to answer), to wake up a child that is not going to get up and answer a ringing phone, you can just holler it's time to get up or you going to be late, giving information when my husband has his hands full with the baby and I could just speak out loud to let him know where something was or an easier way to do what he is trying to do, telling someone something I forgot to tell them when sending them upstairs/downstairs, reminding your children of the instructions you originally gave before sending them to do a chore (just examples, I do have cameras in the house so I'm able to see when I need to say something) or someone is not near the phone and able to pick it up, invaluable in my home. I am really disappointed that that these options have been taken away. They are actually the original reason that I started purchasing these phones to begin with so long ago. Another option that is not available any longer is the ability to name each handset. This feature is crucial when you have numerous phones (we added more and have 8). On our previous phones we named each phone based on the room that they were located in so you could easily intercom the correct phone. These phones are simply labeled 1,2,3... So you have to try to remember what number phone is in a specific room, almost impossible for our children under 10 years old. Previously they could choose to intercom mom or kitchen when someone is upstairs/downstairs and simply needed to ask a question. Again features that should have Never been removed from the new models. I do like the phones new colors, they are vibrant. I am unfortunately going to be looking for a different system that has the 2 options that were removed. This is unfortunate to me because these phones have always been reliable and easy to use. The phones are great though if those 2 things are not a deal breaker for you.

So far so good, the sound quality is fine and the range works a good distance. It's a pretty basic model but it has worked good for me.

I have no idea about battery life but VTech is usually good quality so I have faith it will last...phone and answering machine work very well, sound is good/clear, volume adjustable, easy to use but different from other device so just need to get use to it. Light weight and slender...not disappointed, arrived quickly...great price
