She commented excitedly on the children who loves themselves even though their bodies are not working like everyone else
I have used this video to encourage discussion about self-esteem with kids as young as 5 years old and with an older special needs person who was not recognizing her unique and special value just for who she is! She commented excitedly on the children who loves themselves even though their bodies are not working like everyone else.

My One Year Old LOVES This
She doesn't care for the cartoons...as with any other cartoon show. She loves to see the children and hear them talk. I think this is a great video for very young children to teach them EARLY about being different in many ways AND accepting all our differences. The video is NOT long so know that it's only 30 minutes long.

Misleading Title
It was ok, the title is misleading I thought it was strictly about being proud of your natural African hair but it wasn't. Though it did speak about other things like dwarfism, it wasn't what I was expecting.

GREAT FOR STUDENTS
I use this with middle schoolers, and, no matter the grade level, they are involved and in tune. Many important lessons here through a variety of clips which are a combination of real young people and animation. The young kids who weave the segments together are adorable! The things kids say...

Title doesn't fit movie
From the title, I thought the stories reflected black children and most of the characters in the movie are white. Finding movies that my black children can identify with is extremely difficult. I'm actually offended and pissed. I returned it. Diversity and tolerance is cool but I wasn't looking for that. I wanted a movie that was entertaining and Black characters were the main characters.

Wonderul and lovely look at all kinds of differences
I recommend this to any family or school that wants a broad look at all kinds of differences. This is a lovely collage of children expressing themselves and their experiences being exactly who they are. It is a wonderful film and a great discussion starter.

Not what I wanted!!
Not really what I was expecting. I thought it would be about black kids loving their natural hair but that's only like the fist 5 minutes of the dvd

Happy to be Nappy
I bought this dvd for use in my work around diversity but having watched it I will be using it with the younger members of my family in getting them to talk about the everyday issue of difference. The message was clear for adult and children alike told in that simple language of children with maximum impact.
