Altogether an excellent product. Very highly recommended.
The media could not be loaded. Altogether an excellent product. Very highly recommended. This is a great tool to have. Apart from various DIY, plumbing and technical jobs in could be used for, I’ve used this endoscope to hunt for and investigate a rat’s nest up in the attic, and help find my bearded dragon after it decided to take advantage of a slightly open door. (See video)I keep various reptiles, and have had several escaped snakes in the past. (All recovered eventually!) This tool would have assisted me in recovering them a lot quicker and easier if I had it at the time. If you own a pet snake or pet that has the potential to escape down under the floor boards or behind kitchen units I have to recommend you get one of these!I originally bought a cheap endoscope on eBay that plugs into your mobile phone via an adaptor. Apart from poor quality video, it was cheaply made, and with lots of use would possibly damage your phone’s USB port. With the nature of jobs requiring an endoscope I would imagine my phone getting damaged in the process with scuffs and scratches. This endoscope from Depstech / Amazon is absolutely great. It comes in a nice hard shell zipped case, well protected when not in use. The unit itself is built to a very high standard and seems to be quite rugged. Being an all in one device means you don’t have to use your phone! The unit comes with the usual peel off plastic film on the screen, personally I decided to leave it on there. The probe has two cameras which is great, one points straight ahead and the other looks out of the side of the probe. You can switch from one to the other from the handset. Both cameras have LED illumination which you can adjust the brightness of or turn on and off. The probe fits into the handset via a very rugged and well fitted USB connector. (You won’t have any problems with it wobbling and moving about!) The probe is water proof, so can be used down drains etc. As stated in the listing the probe is about 5m long. It’s a good idea to just unwind just as much as you need to make it easy to feed into whatever you are investigating. The probe is a sort of stiff cable which makes it great for feeding in, but it’s also flexible enough to go round bends and turns. The handset itself is very well made. It has a large clear screen, four buttons on the bottom for various menu and camera controls, a big orange button on one side to take photos and video, and two buttons on the left hand side one to turn it on/off and the other one to turn on/off an LED at the back so the handset has it’s own built in flashlight.Underneath the rubber cover at the bottom there is the micro SD card slot, a reset hole and a micro USB connector to charge the handset or connect it to your PC. You can access all the photos and videos without needing to remove the card from the device.A nice touch is that the unit comes with a 32GB micro SD card so you don’t need to provide one. Everything you need is in the box. You also get some well printed, clear instructions (in English!), a USB lead and a little tube that contains some tools that can screw onto the end of the probe. There’s a magnet on one and a hook on the other. Alltough these tools are in the field of view in front of the camera they don’t get in the way of investigating whatever you are trying to look at. There is also a little reset button tool, but so far I’ve never needed it.The video quality from such a small and tiny camera is really good. You can see every detail, even in really hard to reach and darkest little holes. The battery is very good, I’ve used this unit for several jobs round the house and a good few hours of extensive testing. I’ve only plugged it in to charged once when I first unboxed it and the battery icon is still showing full. Quite impressive. (The unit arrived already charged) You can set the unit to switch itself off after 15 or 30 min in the menu if you want it to.The user interface of the device is very high quality. It has various languages, it’s easy and clear to navigate, and well thought out. I’ve often found many cheap devices have a sort of horrible “translated” menu system. That’s not the case with this device. Top marks for that! The on screen menu allows you to change from 720p to 1080p, set the auto time off if required, set time, date, language, format the SD card or reset the device. The buttons at the bottom of the screen allow you to navigate the menu, adjust the brightness of the LED lights, rotate the image, switch cameras and play/pause the video etc.My final verdict is this is a well made, quality piece of kit. Highly recommended for all sorts of jobs and uses. Highly recommended.

Useful tool
The media could not be loaded. Presentation of this device is very nice, smart case etc, however I was more interested in how it might perform. It's got a good size screen for my purposes, anything bigger would be difficult to handle one handed with the cable in the other hand.Quality of the image is not bad. The screen shimmers a fair bit as the camera is moved about but is more stable when the camera is held still. The biggest problemn for me was getting the camera aligned so I could see what I wanted to.I've used it for two inspections of difficult to see areas. The first was in a cavity wall trying to see the cavity tray on my 1940's house. I wanted to check that the weep holes hadn't been blocked by someone repointing the house some years ago- I can't get access to the tray over a first floor window without scaffolding so this was a lot cheaper. I could see that some of the cavity wall insulation had spilled into the tray which is not helpful.Second inspection was inside a flat roof that we've just had fixed. I have a suspicion it may still be leaking but not enough to show itself in the room below- yet! I accessed the space between the insulation and roof boards from within the attic. Without something like this endoscope I don't know how I could check this out.One good feasture of the 'scope is the second camera. It allows the view to be switched from straight ahead to out the side. And, as I found by accident (only read the instructions when all else fails) the view toggles through ahead and side view but also both at the same time on a split screen which I found very useful. The video and jpegs I captured leave a lot to be desired. They are very pixelated and not great quality- the actual image on the screen looks better. True they're not going to be printed into large photos but I had hoped for better. All in all I'm pleased with this beastie, it's a fair price for what it is and if you have a situation like the two I've mentioned where access any other way is virtually impossible then it's a cheaper optyion than calling out a professional- certainly for starters. And once I get the hang of getting the camera into the right place, pointing the right way it'll be even more useful! The cable has a mind of it's own whenever it's extended over a couple of feet, I'll be trying to support it by sliding it in a piece of plastic pipe and things like that. I did tape it to a hose I used to vac out the cavity tray which worked well, I could see where I was about to vac and had more control on where the camera was pointing. It seems somewhat crazy to me that any images or videos taken cannot be viewed on the device but either by connecting it to a pc or removing the tiny TF card and inserting that into a card reader- which I found easier. Connecting to a pc had the active screen printing a continuous stream of 0's for some mysterious reason though I did eventually manage to access the images via a usb lead by some mysterious route I'd be hard pressed to repeat.

Good, solid kit for automotive
Been after a dual lens borescope for a while, but price has now started to get sensible. I have other Depstech inspection kit and know that they have real UK support so finally got this one.First off, it has great packaging - I know that's not important to everyone but to me it says quality and I love the feel of a great box with a new toy in it!Out of the box the display feels solid and like my other scope of theirs it has the semi -rigid cable. The USB camera cable has a solid surround that takes a good push to click into the display -feels more like a permanent attachment. Bit of a gripe here that it comes with a really nice carry case, - but once the cable is fitted the unit does not go in the case. The camera head is 8mm which is OK and I have not seen much smaller with a dual camera. its small enough for a spark plug hole and valve inspection. Picture quality and more importantly focal length is great on the front camera , quality seem to be slightly less on the side camera but focal length still very good. The pic I added was way inside a very dusty, very old fuel tank. Not used an "all in one" before as I always found the screens lacking - this screen is great and it's a bonus not to having to risk dropping my already battered phone into an engine bay.One thing that is very useful is the 180deg rotation button, - less useful is the light/torch on the back of the display unit - not sure what that's going to be used for.Overall very happy with it and it is excellent value.UPDATE - Used this on a troublesome diagnosis, using the side camera there is enough detail/quality to see the pitting on the exhaust valve seat (pic added, though the on-screen is even better detail), that's impressive - though unfortunately not the issue with the car!
