The American Heritage College Dictionary Hardcover – 20 January 2010

The dictionary is excellent. I had the paperback version and the hardback is better. Highly recommend.

Really? You want me to write a review on a dictionary? OK. It's great read!I have a desktop, my wife has a laptop (MacBook Air, barely a yr old), but she wanted a dictionary next to herchair. Go figure!I know she makes great use of it because there are, perhaps, a dozen sticky-notes sticking out beyond the pages.And, It is an attractive book; well illustrated and the print size is legible to even these 82 year-old eyes.

"The American Heritage College Dictionary" sits beside my computer at all times, and my son keeps one with him while doing his school work. The free download that came with this is such an added bonus; it contains a dictionary and thesaurus to install on your PC, and it automatically comes up in your Word and Excel applications! Very helpful.

oddly enough this I think is the best and most practical of the American heritage dictionary collection. The book is more manageable, size and weight wise and more readable than other volumes by American Heritage which are supposedly more comprehensive. I have a feeling which I cannot demonstrate that the other American Heritage volumes are not nearly as comprehensive as they advertise themselves to be. The American Heritage Roget's thesaurus is a complete waste of money so is this supposed American Heritage "desk dictionary." Your choices are either this volume or the fall American Heritage dictionary. Readers in this review are not familiar with dictionaries should know that American Heritage leans very heavily toward more contemporary or newer words and slang. It is my considered opinion that it is very good to have another dictionary on hand besides any published by American Heritage.
