The winner of an International Emmy Award for Best Comedy Program, The Vicar of Dibley is one of the most popular series ever produced by the BBC. It boasts the brilliant comic writing of Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Bridget Jones' Diary) and a gifted ensemble cast lead by Dawn French of the of the hilarious comedy duo, French and Saunders. The sleepy village of Dibley was blindsided back in 1994 by the arrival of its new vicar - who had the audacity to be a woman! Over the twelve ensuing years - with the help of a sharp wit, a double dose of double entendre and a healthy supply of chocolate - she gradually won the hearts of even the crustiest of the town's eccentric inhabitants. This collection contains every episode ever created of this brilliant comedy series, and it promises to warm your heart, while keeping you in fits of hysteria along the way! Review: Loved this series - My first wife used to watch this series with me, along with Father Ted, Coupling, and a couple of other series that we would catch on public broadcasting or on the U.S. version of British broadcasting. Actually, my first wife had gotten into earlier work by the star of this series, so it helped her jump into this series that much quicker, but whatever the reason I'm glad to have gotten the opportunity to see this series when it was first on and now later to be able to snag it on DVD so I can rewatch whenever I want. I'd rather have gotten this in digital form but it wasn't available that way outside of a subscription to a monthly streaming service that you can subscribe to here at the A to Z store. I might have gone that route but instead bought the DVD set for now as I look for a later special on that streaming channel (I just missed a discounted subscription before ordering this set of DVDs, so I'm guessing I'll see one available again sometime in the near future). This show was really funny and quick to hook you into the personalities that were quirky but endearing. It followed a tried and true formula that a lot of other British comedies have over the years and did so quite well. Review: A great comedy series. - One drawback to forewarn readers is that it was recorded before digital so you have to tolerate it looks like like video or film. Dawn Adams of course wonderful, as is the entire supporting cast. Many of whom are regrettably not living now but of course this is over 20 years old. It’s very important though those who watch it continue to watch each program after it ends for the credits. This is the funniest part of the series, for Adams, the female vicar tells her younger associate some rather naughty jokes. You’ll look at this part over and over again.

Great on all counts
As an ordained minister I must tell you that this series is nothing short of terrific. It hits the mark on a lot of theological issues and does so with classic British humor. Certainly, if you are not a fan of British comedy, don't get this...but if you like British humor, do add this to your library. My youngest son is also ordained and serves as an Episcopal priest. He loves it too. When we watch it together we roar with laughter. Of course, both being theologians it may be that we catch some jokes others might miss, but buy it anyway. and enjoy. It's a blessing.

It is Britcom night, whenever I need it. If you have seen this series, you know it will make you laugh and cry. A total escape in a tiny English village.

So Much Fun
A delightful series. The only drawback was no captions. The description clearly stated the were there.

British humor
If you’d like, understand, and get British humor. It’s hilarious. Silly characters. Very enjoyable. Not many episodes so it is expensive though. The special movies don’t come with the full box that you have to buy that separately

Non stop laughter!
The only downside to this set is the show ended. This is one I will watch over and over!
