I have a Hoover Smartwash machine and this solution has been an excellent alternative to the more expensive Hoover solutions. I usually have to wait for Hoover products to go on sale to do my house deep cleaning - I have 2 indoor cats and 2 dogs, and multiple rugs, so there are a lot of fabric surfaces that need to be shampooed fairly often. When I rescued my 2nd dog a few years ago she was not house trained and peed on all my hardwood floors. At that time I used a lot of Zep floor cleaner (I forgot which one) to get the urine smell out - it was the only brand that worked after trying ~5 other popular and recommended brands made specifically for dog urine (including Nature's Miracle, which did not touch it at all)... So when I noticed Zep also had a shampoo machine solution I knew I had to try it. Bonus points for being less expensive than the Hoover solutions I've been waiting around to go on sale. So far I've used it on the seats of my car, my couch, and my living room rug and I LOVE IT. I didn't think my car seats were very dirty looking to begin with and mostly just wanted them to smell fresher but to my surprise this solution pulled up a lot of grime and made turned the water brown - I had to go over each seat multiple times, it pulled up so much yuck out of them! Guess they were worse than I thought! My couch had never been shampooed but always has a cover on it that I wash every week and I didn't think it would be that bad either, but same thing - had to go over it multiple times because the brown water just kept coming! It smells significantly better now, and was all dry by the next day. I only remembered to take pictures while doing my living room rug, but you can see how gross the water gets (A.K A. how well this solution works). My car seats and couch were the same way. I've only done one pass on the rug and it already stopped smelling "doggy". The smell left by this solution isn't overpowering or super perfumey, which I also appreciate. I purchased the 128 ounce bottle and after using it on my rug/car/couch I have about half the bottle of solution left, so a little goes a long way. I'm actually excited to see how much grime I can get out of my SO's car seats next!

Zep premium carpet shampoo is a hidden gem . With kids and pets constantly tracking up my carpets I was searching Amazon for a quality cleaner in a larger size with cost savings .. And while very familiar with the Zep brand and quality in a commercial industrial setting I had never used their products in my home until I saw it on Amazon and knew if it was true to the Zep reputation in the commercial field it would excel in my home as well. And wow I was definitely impressed ! This product outperformed every big name carpet cleaner I had used in the past in my homeowner model carpet cleaner ! Little to no smell other than the smell of a good cleaner , some products on market do a crappy job but leave a pleasant floral smell .. this product is about doing exactly what you bought it for cleaning your carpets to the highest level giving professional results for the average homeowner with heavy traffic carpets. It has removed everything it faced on my carpets dirty boot tracks muddy paws and occasional animal accidents it has not failed once against any stain I have used it against. While compared to easily available big box carpet shampoo this in my machine seemed noticeably more foamy / soapier which made this product an excellent value imho having completed the carpet cleaning the first time rather than multiple cleaning to remove the same dirt / stains. You will not be disappointed in the performance and you will surely appreciate the value this cleaner provides in the 1 gallon size ! Tony G. I do not normally write reviews, but I cannot believe how well this worked! I had no idea how disgusting my rugs were. I usually use the Shark brand carpet cleaner because I like the smell, however I thought I’d try something different. Not only is this affordable, the smell is pleasant and not long lasting-it actually cleans! No weird residue, rugs look and feel great! Will be using this going forward.

Great product works well and smells great

I was looking for a steam cleaning solution that was more effective at lifting deep dirt and stains from normal traffic on my stairs and in my living room. I read the other evidence and thought it was worth a shot. The product exceeded my expectations. When I cleaned the carpet in my stairs, it effectively removed the deep down dirt from 10 yrs of high traffic from myself, husband, and my son who can’t seem to grasp the “No shoes in the house” rule and 2 puppies in potty training over the span of that 10 years. While it seems expensive, the amount of cleaner to water ratio is high making far more tanks of steam cleaner solution that the cleaner that matches the brand of my machine and this stuff was so much more effective. My stairs went from dark gray, matted carpet, back to light beige, and fluffy again, with one round of cleaning whereas, if I purchased the usual I resolve or Bissell cleaner brands, it would have 4-5 rounds on each stair and most likely 4-5 MUCH smaller bottles of the brands. My living room was much worse and that has been cleaned on several occasions over 10 years. It made the carpet look as if it was new and just laid. I was shocked because I have gone so far as to hand scrub the entire room with the upholstery-like tools that came with my machine for spot treating carpet, and didn’t get nearly as good of results as I did with this cleaner! I did take away 1 star because I had to go over the entire living room 3 times to get the same results I had gotten on my stairs, and I feel like the stairs were far worse than the living room. I have attached photos of before and after for both areas I used it on. I would say while it may seem pricy for 1 gallon of solution, you get over 30 tanks out of it and if you compare the price of this with Bissell brand or resolve, you will pay the same for 1 bottle of a MUCH MUCH smaller size, and less than impressive results in comparison! ZEP do not EVER stop making this solution! It is a miracle-worker for homes with children, pets, and messy husbands and wives!

I own a residential cleaning company, so I’m very particular about the products I use and recommend. Carpets can hold onto an unbelievable amount of dirt, odors, and residue, especially in busy homes with children and pets. I tried the ZEP carpet solution because I wanted something strong enough for heavily used areas but still reasonably priced for regular use. The solution was easy to measure and worked well in my carpet-cleaning machine. It lifted a noticeable amount of embedded dirt from the carpet and helped brighten the high-traffic areas. The carpet looked refreshed after it dried rather than feeling stiff, sticky, or coated with product. I also appreciated that the scent was clean without being unbearably strong or lingering for too long. As with any carpet solution, I recommend vacuuming thoroughly beforehand, following the dilution instructions, and avoiding the temptation to use more product than necessary. Using too much solution can leave residue behind and actually cause carpets to attract dirt faster. For tougher spots, I would still pretreat them instead of expecting the machine solution to remove every stain by itself. Overall, ZEP performed well and gave me the kind of clean, professional-looking result I want for both my own home and the homes I service. It offers a good balance of cleaning power, ease of use, and value. I would purchase it again, especially for routine carpet maintenance and high-traffic areas.

Found my new holy grail! I have carpet that my dog likes to go to the bathroom on, also very high traffic. I have been buying the Bissell pet cleaner for $24 a small bottle. It never works that well, still leaving stains behind after it dries. The first time I used this it was a miracle. Got rid of all the old stains and the new ones and it left my carpet soft. So thrilled and will be using this for now on!

I have tried Bissel, Rug Doctor, and Amazon carpet cleaning solutions. Zep has them all beat. It gets stains out that other brands could not. The scent is good but not overwhelming. Carpets truly feel, look, and smell cleaner and not like they have been blanketed in perfume. I have a large dog and 3 cats so keeping a white carpet clean is a challenge- this stuff does the trick.
