What is Optional float/by-pass valve and what does connect to?

It skims the top surface of the in-ground pool, mainly to rid the pool of floating bugs and floating leaves or debris. It has an internal basket to capture these things before returning the water to the pump and filter.

Can you confirm the part number? This looks exactly like the one we have however I’ve been told by two companies that the 1082 is for Gunite pools

I am sorry, but I no longer have the records from my skimmer purchase. I can say, however, that pool supplies are sometimes 'interchanged' by people and/or pool companies (installers), so it's possible that the one you have may not be the one 'called for' by the manufacturer. I would say that if it 'looks' the same, then compare the measurements in the 'specifications' area to see if everything matches-up. Just verify, before purchase, that it may be returned if it doesn't fit right.

Is this skimmer for use with a concrete pool?

Yes it is. Just built my pool and used this one.

What are the Faceplate dimensions? The opening into the pool wall.

I'm very sorry, but my pool is still covered, for at least 2 more weeks. I don't remember the dimensions offhand, but I assumed that the size was standard.

Skimmer set came incomplete. missing the Float valve
