Lots of helpful information
As another pediatric RD, I have to say that this book is extremely informative and helpful. If your child has more extreme picky eating tendencies, you may still end up consulting a feeding therapist directly, but the methods and information given in this resource are very helpful for the parent guiding a child through the natural picky eating phase that occurs as children try to assert their independence for the first time. It helps parents understand why this is happening and how they can address these issues so that the child naturally grows out of the phase, and with confidence fully intact. Not only does Dr. Roberts give information about how to handle the particulars while at the table, but she also does a deep-dive into associated issues such as constipation. This is a great resource.I was sent a free copy for reviewing purposes.

Simple, informational guide for parents with picky eaters!
I thought the book was easy to read and engaging! An awesome guide for parents with picky eaters! As a nutrition professional working for my local WIC agency, I found the topics discussed in the book to be common issues mentioned by my participants. I believe the activities outlined were simple and could be applied to different family dynamics and SES backgrounds.

Lots of useful information to help parents/caregivers navigate feeding toddlers
As a dietitian and mother I love to review strategies to help make feeding a pleasurable experience. Dr. Roberts has summed up a lot of the evidence in helping children have positive experiences with food and presents it in an easy to understand format. This book provides simple strategies for parents and caregivers to use to help make feeding simple. Her gentle use of division of responsibility throughout the book and in different feeding difficulties is appreciated. I enjoyed the number of simple at home activities provided in the book. This book provides the why to make changes and takes it a step further to provide the how to go about doing so.I was sent a free copy for reviewing purposes.

My Child is Trying New Foods!
This is a great book for anyone with fussy or picky eaters. The book starts with a questionnaire to assess how picky or fussy your child is with food. Then, the author gives you daily steps to take that are simple and easy to do. By Day 30, you, your child, and the whole family are eating better. My child went from only eating a few foods and refusing to sit down at the dinner table to sitting at the dinner table and at least trying every food on his plate, including the vegetables! Great, easy to read book!

Useless
This is the dumbest and most useless book I have ever read. The author should be ashamed of themselves for publishing this!!!

Light at the end of the tunnel
My daughter is almost 5 and mealtimes have been a struggle for a long time. She eats very little and then when I clean up lunch, she says she hungry again. It's the most maddening thing! This book is very informative and gives great exercises at home to keep mealtimes calm and less stressful. I wish I had read this book a long time ago. I do have hope that my daughter will want less treats and will choose better options as I continue to work with her from the information given in the book.

An Amazing Resource for Stressed Parents
As a registered dietitian with a background in pediatrics, I found this book to be invaluable. I wish this was available when I was working in Early Intervention with children on the spectrum, not to mention, raising my own kids! The Author provides hope in the form of solid guidance with doable actions steps. I especially loved chapter 2 where she compels the reader to explore their own food history. The price of the book is worth it just for the Exposure chapter which provides the secret sauce for growing health kids.I received a free review copy of the book and it was a PLEASURE to tap into the author's knowledge and experience. Highly recommended!

full of cliché recommendations
The book will not help much if toddler is not eating well or is a picky eater. It is very general.

Of interest to more than just parents/carers of picky eaters
This book will show you why some children are picky eaters and give you the means to help them overcome their fussiness. It is made up of a 30 day programme of behavioural explanations, coupled with exercises and charts to document progress. The exercises are well explained, logical and easy to follow as examples are given with each exercise. Each day introduces a new aspect of a child’s behaviour and ways to overcome any difficulties. As someone who was a very picky eater as a child, although my children luckily didn’t follow in my footsteps, I think this book is of interest not only to parents/carers who are currently struggling to get their child to try a range of foods but also to anyone who may have had a picky eater in the family in the past, or like me may have been a picky eater themselves.Among the many aspects of eating explored in this book it is fascinating to learn why children’s inherent instinct is to be wary of unfamiliar foods, and why many toddlers do not like different foods touching on their plate. Not just interesting but the scientific explanations, researched from evidence based practice, are combined with Dr Robert’s practical experience as a paediatric dietitian to make this a workable guide that will help many currently stressed out from struggling to get their children to eat.Now this may all sound a bit heavy going, science, evidence, exercises, charts etc. but it isn’t! Dr Roberts writes in a very approachable style, with any ‘jargon’ simply explained in layperson’s terms, the exercises are practical and simple to follow, and along the way you will gain a better understanding of child development and behaviour.By following her approach mealtimes can be changed from a stressful to an enjoyable occasion. If you’re struggling try it and see!

A comprehensive informative book
This book was so refreshing to read, it was full of real life examples of tricky situations parents find themselves in with food and their young children. This is a very good, informative book full of facts and nutritional information, help for parents whose children may struggle with certain foods, access to an online questionnaire, an easy to follow program, growth charts and food diary's all included. This book gives a real understanding of how deficiency can affect children's mood, learning and neurological development as well as tips and techniques of ways to introduce new foods without stress to your child's diet. For me it was also very helpful to read about children with sensory processing issues and how this affects food, giving me more insight on how to help my own children at meal times

Use it as a workbook it will get you thinking outside the box about your child's eating .
I found this book extremely useful and informative. Just what I was looking for not just the emotion but the science behind fussy eating. Expertly written it helped move me from a position of guilt and failure to one of empowerment. There are things you can change and by removing tensions meals are now much more enjoyable. The style is extremely readable, at first sight it looks like alot of words but I suggest working through the book day by day as it's designed to be used. You will then find the many practical excercises and advice really useful and logical .

A must read for all parents - fussy eater or nor
I am an eating disorder specialist myself, and a mother to toddlers. I read this for continuing professional development combined with sourcing a friendly self help guide for a family members son, and I read it first myself before handing over any nonsense. This is evidence based, well sourced and referenced and easy to implement. It addresses many common mistakes parents make in a blame free manner.Highly recommend.

I wish this book had been available when my daughter was little!
I found the explanations of how young children see and approach new foods and learning the skills of eating interesting and insightful. My daughter was relatively easy to introduce to new foods but we still faced challenges at mealtimes.Dr Elizabeth Roberts provides fun meal ideas and exercises to chart progress and help parents negotiate what can be an exhausting and emotional time for families. She provides tips and strategies to ignore tricky behaviours at meal times and instead to model the behaviours you want in your child. The book also provides a definitive guide to nutrition and portion size for young children. It’s surely a must for anyone struggling with picky eaters.
