Well-made and sharp!
I needed a better sharpener for my new set of Blackwing pencils. I ordered two different kinds, and this was the winner. It is compact, well-made, with a good weight. But, most importantly, it sharpens well, and it's wasteful...which is an important quality for a sharpener of fancy pencils!!!

It's a pencil sharper.
It does not require a subscription. It does not require an internet connection. It does not require firmware updates. It does not require a monthly payment plan.It does not require any USB cables. It does not require your personal information. It does not require programming. It does not require batteries. It's a pencil sharper. It is as simple as it gets.Ergonomically, it feels good in your hands. It's not made of cheap plastic. The blade is easy to access and is replaceable. It has a very high premium feel for a sharper.

I like The Bullet
I purchased both the 'bullet' shaped version of this brass pencil sharpener, as well as (earlier) the disc shaped version that accommodates two sizes of pencils. The bullet shaped is less cumbersome to carry around in your pocket, and in my experience does a noticably better job of sharpening; with few if any broken leads. Apparently rather slight differences in milling can make a significant difference in performance. Happier with "The Bullet".

Great for many pencils but not for all…
I love these bullet sharpeners. They are great for wood graphite pencils and solid graphite pencils. For colored pencils I use Faber Castel Polychromos pencils and Caran d'ache Luminance pencils. This sharpener works great with these pencils. I recently tried Lyra poly color pencils too and it works well with those. As for pastel pencils I only use Faber Castel Pitt Pastel pencils or Caran d'ache pastel pencils. This sharpener works better on the Faber Castel than on the Caran. I've had more breakage with the caran, but when it works with the caran it works well. I have tried the sharpener with General's charcoal pencils and it is hit or miss - mostly because they are fragile and break within the wood when dropped. But I read (and have tried and it works) that if you leave your charcoal pencils in the hot sun for a couple of hours the binder melts and solidifies again when taken out of the sun. If you do this the sharpener works great. It doesn't seem to work well with carbon pencils and if you use Conte à Paris pencils they are too big for this sharpener. Based on my usage I think these are great sharpeners.
